According to that report, Planned Parenthood
performed 333,964 abortions during the 12-month period. That
compares 332,278 abortions in 2009 and 329,445 abortions in 2010 --
making a three-year toll of close to one-million abortions.
The report also indicates Planned Parenthood had a record year when it comes to funding from the government. An analysis done by the pro-life group, Susan B. Anthony List, shows the abortion provider received a record $542 million in taxpayer dollars by way of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements.
That amounts to almost half of all Planned Parenthood's budget.
What will it take for Congress to someday vote
to de-fund Planned Parenthood? VOTE
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List, released the following statement:
"Planned Parenthood has spent much
of the last few years demanding that taxpayers add millions more to
their coffers, citing their non-profit status and so-called focus
on women's health. What have we received for our money? While
government subsidies to Planned Parenthood have reached an all-time
high, so too has the number of lives ended by this profit-driven
abortion business. Destroying nearly one million children in three
years is not healthcare and does not reflect a concern for
vulnerable women and girls. As Planned Parenthood's funding goes
up, abortions increase and real health services for women go
down.
"Contraception services dropped by 12 percent since
2009, and cancer-screening and prevention services dropped by 29
percent," she points out. "So Planned Parenthood spent much of the
last couple of years making the case for why they should receive
taxpayer funding and really relying on taxpayers to fill up their
coffers -- and they're not providing the healthcare services that
they claim."
According to Quigley, that "absolutely" means more of the federal money going to Planned Parenthood is freed up to perform abortions.
"Money is completely fungible -- and as we've seen, as their taxpayer funding has increased over the last three years so has the number of abortions that they provide," she explains. "And all the while, the healthcare services and their so-called 'focus on women's health' has declined."
Quigley adds that Planned Parenthood does 145 abortions for every adoption referral, which she says is indicative of the organization's priorities.
Jim Sedlak with American Life League comments on the record number of abortion reported.
"They've had an increase of about 4,000 more babies
that they've killed. Planned Parenthood now kills over 900 babies a
day in their own facilities, so every three days they kill the same
number of innocent human beings who died on September 11, 2001, in
the terrorist attacks on the United States."
And regarding the record amount of taxpayer funding: "They reported that for the latest year, they received $542 million," notes Sedlak. "So Planned Parenthood has increased another $60 million last year -- and of course the gates are about to open wide as ObamaCare gets implemented and Planned Parenthood gets millions more."
The ALL spokesman notes that Planned Parenthood two years ago said that as of January 2013 "every single one of their affiliates had to have a clinic that did abortions." That, he says, makes the organization the largest abortion-provider in the nation -- mostly at taxpayer expense.
Pushing a lie to black women
Star Parker, columnist and founder of the Coalition on Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), says Planned Parenthood promotes a lie, particularly to the black community -- a lie that she herself once bought into.
"Planned
Parenthood has been working our hard-hit communities for some time,
pushing a lie that a way to escape poverty is to kill your
offspring -- and people have bought this lie," she said during an
interview Tuesday on American Family Radio.
"It wasn't until after the fourth time I went into one of their so-called 'safe, legal, rare' abortion clinics that I had a gut-instinct way down deep inside that there has to be something wrong with killing your offspring. But the message was: There's nothing wrong with killing your offspring."
Parker says that is why a post-abortive ministry is important today. "Most black women now are either port-abortive themselves and/or know someone who is," she lamented. "We're talking about cities like New York, where six out of ten pregnancies are ending in abortion.
"So these millions of women that we're talking about having these millions of abortions are in our own circles," the columnist continued. "And it's a challenge now because until we, or they, confront that this is an area that they must repent from and take it before the Lord, we're not going to get a pro-life society again."
Parker made her comments on AFR's Today's Issues.
'Stand for something'
Christian financial expert Dan Celia on Tuesday reminded his listeners on American Family Radio that the funding numbers being reported are just for Planned Parenthood and do not include independent abortion clinics across the country. He also noted that neither political party is doing anything to curb taxpayer money going to the abortion provider.
"The last time it was attempted was in 2010, when Congressman Mike Pence [R-Indiana] put forth a bill to vote on, along with raising the debt ceiling -- and it was to de-fund Planned Parenthood," he recalled. "It was a whole bunch of Republicans [who essentially said] We can compromise on that. We'll take that out."
Funding for abortions frustrates Celia, who counsels his fellow Christians to make Bible-based decisions regarding their finances.
"The real rub is that you and I -- evangelical Christians around the world -- are paying for this," he stated. "It's why I get frustrated when I talk about biblically responsible investing, how we continue to invest in the very things that we despise ... and that we know that God hates, yet we invest in those things."
"We need a campaign like no other campaign of dealing with these issues. We need to ask our representatives: Can you please stand for something? Just stand for something? And this lukewarm-ness that these politicians have is why we have the debt crisis that we have."

Planned Parenthood's latest annual
report shows it performed a record number of abortions in the
fiscal year 2011-2012 and received a record amount of taxpayer
funding.Tuesday, January 08, 2013

horrifying, Planned Parenthood has upped the ante even further by

Planned Parenthood has stressed that it provides healthcare and
