Bavaria, the Thule Society, the SOSJ and the Making of a Revolutionary Faith Part I


The Thule Society has fascinated conspiracy theorists for decades and the German state of Bavaria for even longer. Thule has of course been put forth as the smoking gun for the occult roots of Nazism by a host of different sources since 1960 while Bavaria is linked to one of the true institutions of conspiracy culture: the Illuminati. It was this region, after all, that spawned Adam Weishaupt's Illuminati order on May Day 1776 and in the centuries that have followed the infamy associated with both this secret society and Bavaria itself have only been compounded by a host of wild speculations. But even more interesting is the virtual silence of the conspiratorial right concerning many of the curious and highly secretive organizations that developed there in the 1918-1923 period that shall soon be examined.

Naturally mainstream historians have largely chosen to ignore the Thule Society all together as well as the host of strange organizations that appeared in Bavaria in the wake of World War I despite compelling evidence linking these things to the rise of Nazism. This has created a vacuum that the conspiratorial right was all to happy to fill. As a result, there are a lot of ridiculous claims concerning both Thule and Bavaria floating around conspiracy literature and the Internet. As such, I feel compelled to begin this series by breaking down what the Thule Society was not before getting into its real historic significance.

The same should arguably be done for the region of Bavaria itself as well, but such a topic is beyond the scope of this present series. I do hope, however, that this series will make it clear that Bavaria wasn't exactly the fertile soil for some type of radical communistic revolution as it is commonly depicted. In point of fact, post-WWI Bavaria spawned a reactionary (counter)revolutionary faith that is still being felt nearly a century later. Possibly its most lasting impact on the United States was the potential influence the political climate of the region had on a bizarre secret society known as the Sovereign Order of Saint John (of which I've examined in depth before here, here and here). But more on that later.


So, with introductory obligations out of the way, let us get on with the show. The Thule Society first began to come to the attention of the masses in 1960 with the publication of one of the most influential metaphysical tomes on what would become the 1960s counterculture.
"The construction of a body of doubtful lore surrounding the Thule Society began in 1960 with Le Matin des Magiciens, published in Great Britain as The Dawn of the Magicians and the United States as The Morning of the Magicians. In its embrace of esotericism of all sorts, the book resonated loudly within the 1960s counterculture. The Morning of the Magicians was an imaginative series of associations, linking alchemy and quantum physics, Jung and Gurdjieff, and like the science fiction stories of the previous generation, it became an unlikely stimulant for the dreams of many artists and intellectuals. It was a best seller in the 1960s and early 1970s, appearing in paperback editions with psychedelic covers. 'Few books that followed in the sixties occult revival weren't indebted to it in some way,' wrote a chronicler of the counterculture's intellectual concepts. It was also careless with facts, sloppy with evidence.
"The authors of The Morning of the Magicians, Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier, were members of the French intelligentsia who wrote their magnum opus of 'fantastic realism' in the spirit of the Surrealist manifestos of earlier decades. Pauwels had edited Albert Camus's influential newspaper Combat; Bergier, a physicist, had worked for Allied intelligence. 
"The idea of the occult as a backdrop to Hitler had already been introduced to English-speakers through Hermann Rauschning's Hitler Speaks (1939), which raised the specter of black magic and contained quotes from Hitler echoing Ariosophical premises without mentioning Thule or any specific source. At the time Rauschning's implications were too outre to be considered anything but metaphor. The sections of The Morning of the Magicians having to do with Nazism and its links to rejected cosmologies, pseudo-sciences, and and the occult illustrated the authors' position on the relativity of human experience, the ways in which even outrageous worldviews can frame the vast and unruly material of reality. The Morning of the Magicians popularized the theory of the Third Reich as the project of black occultists, a 'magic socialism' warring against Western science, the Judeo-Christian tradition, and the rule of reason. Although Pauwels and Bergier proposed Thule as only one node in the plurality of 'subterranean Germany,' they brought the group to the attention of millions of readers and into the demonology of pop culture. In The Morning of the Magicians, Eckart is Thule's leading personality, espousing a cosmology as redolent of H.P. Lovecraft as H.P. Blavatsky. According to the authors, Eckart and his compatriots believed that 'Beings intermediate between man and other intelligent beings from Beyond, would place at the disposal of the Initiates a reservoir of force,' enabling Germany to conquer the world and become the cradle for the coming race of supermen, 'guided by the Great Ones of the Ancient World.'"

This is only scratching the surface of Pauwels and Bergier's fantastical account of the Thule Society. Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke, one of the few researchers to put forth a scholarly account of Nazi occultism, notes of The Morning of the Magicians:
"This legendary account of Nazi inspiration and ambition was underpinned by a fanciful account of the Thule Society and certain of its members. Pauwels and Bergier singled out two particular individuals as Hitler's occult mentors at Munich during the early 1920s. Dietrich Eckart (1868-1923) was a volkisch playwright and journalist of violently anti-Semitic prejudice, and a prominent figure among the nationalist circles of Munich. He is also known to have attended meetings of the Thule Society. It is accepted by scholars that Eckart not only gave force and focus to Hitler's burgeoning anti-semitism after the war, but that he also introduced the young party leader to moneyed and influential social circles. The second individual was Karl Haushofer (1869-1946), who had served as a military attache in Japan and became a lifelong admirer of oriental culture. After the First World War Haushofer embarked upon an academic career in the field of political geography, subsequently gaining the Chair of Geopolitics at the University of Munich, where Rudolf Hess was his student assistant. Hitler was supposedly impressed by Haushofer's theories, taken from Sir Halford Mackinder, that the 'heartland' of Eastern Europe and Russia ensured its rulers a wider dominance of the world.
"According to Pauwels and Bergier, the influence of these two men upon Hitler chiefly related to the communications of arcane knowledge which was derived from unknown powers, with which contact had been established through the Thule Society and other cults. Eckart's role as an occult counsellor was related explicitly to invisible hierarchies...
"This spurious account also maintained that Haushofer was a member of the Luminous Lodge, a secret Buddhist society in Japan, and the Thule Society. As an initiate of the Eastern mysteries, rather than as a geopolitician, Haushofer is supposed to have proclaimed the necessity of 'a return to the source' of the human race in Central Asia. He advocated the Nazi colonization of this area, in order that Germany could have access to the hidden centres of power in the East. The consequence of this link with 'unknown superiors' was that the Thule Society was thus revealed to be the secret directing agent of the Third Reich. This assertion and the other details are entirely fallacious. The Thule Society was dissolved around 1925 when support had dwindled. While Eckart and Rosenberg were never more than guests of the Thule during its heyday, there is no evidence at all to link Haushofer with the group.
"This fictitious image of the Thule Society was developed further by Dietrich Bronder in his book Bevor Hitler kam (1964). Bronder claimed that Haushofer met George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff, the Caucasian thaumaturge, at least three times between 1903 and 1908 in Tibet. Gurdjieff was supposed to have initiated Haushofer into the Tibetan mysteries. The Thule Society was alleged to have renewed German contact with the secret monastic orders of Tibet through a small colony of Tibetan Buddhists, which was established at Berlin in 1928; an SS expedition was said to have gone to Tibet with the express purpose of setting up an apparently vital radio link between the Third Reich and the lamas in 1939. The 'Stanzas of Dzyan' were allegedly used as a code for all messages between Berlin and Lhasa during the war. Bronder completed his account with a spurious membership role of the Thule Society which included: Sebottendorff, Guido von List, Lanz von Liebenfels, Mussolini, Hitler, Hess, Goering, Himmler, Frank, and Haushofer. This mythical account posited that the existence of a sinister link of diabolical influence between Nazi Germany and a theosophically imagined Tibet. It may also be noted that Bronder's work was the first crypto-history to introduce the Ariosophists..."

Ariosophy was in fact a kind of hidden doctrine amongst some early supporters of Nazism and other extreme brands of nationalism in Germany and Austria both before and after the First World War. It does indeed seem to have been one of the chief ideological influences upon the historic Thule Society as well as various occultists who would have dealings with the Third Reich at various points. Ariosophy shall be examined in more depth in a future installment of this series.

A point should also be made about the membership list of Thule: Goodrick-Clarke, for years the only truly serious scholar of such arcane topics, has long disputed the presence of many future prominent Nazis within Thule's ranks. David Luhrssen, the first researcher to pen a scholarly full length account of the Thule Society, seems to believe that ties between individuals such as Dietrich Eckart and Alfred Rosenberg to the group were far more extensive than Goodrick-Clarke has been willing to acknowledge. But more on that later.

The Morning of the Magicians would also link Thule to another secret society that would become the center of much speculation amongst conspiracy theorists: the Vril Society. Magicians only touched upon Vril briefly. Later researchers would add extensively to the society's legend and closely link it to the Baron Rudolf von Sebottendorff, the historic founder of the Thule Society.
"Prominent among the pro-Nazi fantasies of Thule are a pair of Austrian writers. Norbert Jurgen-Ratthofer and Ralf Ettl emerged from a neo-Nazi subculture obsessed with the notion that UFOs were German V-weapons, developed before the close of World War II and shipped to bases hidden in the Arctic, South America, and Antarctica. In Das Vril-Projekt (1992), they set forth the idea that the Thule Society and its confederates established contact with extraterrestrials and channeled alien technology to the German military.
"The book's title refers to the Vril Society, an obscure Berlin occult lodge whose existence was first publicized after World War II by refugee German rocket scientist Willy Ley and later popularized by The Morning of the Magicians. In another example of fiction embraced as reality, Vril, a supposed natural force of enormous potential when harnessed by adepts, originated in Bulwer-Lytton's novel The Coming Race (1871) and passed from there into Blavatsky's Isis Unveiled (1877). It has only recently been established that the long-disputed Vril Society actually existed.
"In Das Vril-Projekt, members of the Thule and Vril groups met near Berchtesgaden in December 1919 with the Croatian medium Maria Orsic. They listened as Orsic delivered telepathic messages in Sumerian from the planet Sumi-Er, orbiting Aldebaran in the constellation of Taurus. Among the revelations was a new theory on the origins of the Aryan race. Orsic's message called them descendants of ancient colonists from Sumi-Er. Jurgen-Ratthofer and Ettl were probably indebted to the psuedo-history of Germany's Erich von Dankin, who sold many books and kindled great popular speculations in the wake of his international best seller Chariots of the Gods? (1968), which attributed much of ancient history to the intervention of colonists from other worlds.
"Das Vril-Projekt asserts that Sebotendorff had already immersed himself in Babylonian and Sumerian lore before the session near Berchtesgaden and had published his findings on Mesopotamian evidence for a Manichean struggle between light and darkness, represented by the Aryans and the Jews, in Der interkosmische Weltenkampf (1919), a book whose existence is doubtful. The Babylonian aspect was probably suggested by the writings of Lanz, who based many of his Ariosophical speculations on bizarre interpretations of ancient texts from Mesopotamia.
"Haushofer figures in Das Vril-Projekt's account. He was cited as a participant in an August 1917 discussion of Sumerian lore at a Vienna cafe with Sebottendorff, Orsic, the pilot Lothar Waiz, and a man called Gernot, prelate of a secret Templar order called the Herren vom Schwarzen Stein (Lords of the Black Stone). The Black Stone lodge sought to harness the power of the 'Black Sun,' an energy accessible by initiates that has become part of the legendry of esoteric neo-Nazis since the 1950s.
"Through Osric, the alliance of occultists led by Sebottendorff began to receive instructions for the construction of flying machines operating with electromagnetic fields and antigravity. In 1934 Waiz flew the first of these machines; afterward, the Thule Society helped establish SS Development Department E-IV to test saucer-shaped aircraft powered by a Thule-Tachyonator engine. By the end pf the war E-IV had flown a variety of craft. Among the arsenal of experimental aircraft were the Vril-1 and -2 fighters; the larger Haunebau I, Haunebau II, and Haunebau III, the last of which carried a crew of thirty-two and reached speeds of 40,000 kilometers per hour; and the Andromeda, a mother ship with room for several of the smaller crafts in its hanger. Worried by the faltering German war effort at the end of 1943, Thule and Vril leaders decided to develop the Vril-Odin, a faster-than-light starship. Its mission was to reach Aldebaran by 1967, with an urgent request for help in the war against the Allies. Why the occultists were unable to send an SOS telepathically is not explained. Aldebaran supposedly responded by dispatching a star fleet, which should arrive on earth between 1992 and 2005, to restore Aryan dominance.
"Das Vril-Projekt and similarly themed video 'documentaries' by Jurgen-Ratthofer have circulated beyond the neo-Nazi milieu, attracting interest among New Age and UFO circles. Its core ideas have found their way into the work of other authors, among them, German anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist Jan van Helsing, who also brought Lanz's psuedo-history into the space age, positing that in primordial times Aldebaran colonists had bred Tschandala as slaves. After the Tschandala revolted, the submen mixed with other races and commenced an age-old struggle with the Aryans, the children of Aldebaran, for mastership of the earth."

Needless to say, the actual history of the Vril Society (what little of it there is) is not remotely as extravagant as conspiracy theorists have long depicted it as being.
"Professor Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke... tells a different and more probable account based on the findings of Dr. Peter Bahn in his 1996 essay, Das Geheimnis der Vril-Energie (The Secret of the Vril energy): 'The reality of the Vril Society was a good deal less impressive. Its formal name was Reichsarbeitsgemeinschaft "Das Kommende Deutschland" (Reich Working Group "The Coming Germany"): one of hundreds of little occult societies in Weimer Germany, it was sponsored by the astrological publisher Wilhelm Becker. The group pit out a magazine, which apparently folded after one issue.
"'In 1930 it also published two pamphlets, Vril: Die kosmische Urkraft (Vril: The Primal Cosmic Power) and Weltdynamismus (World Dynamism), claiming to reveal secrets of Atlantean free energy technology. A section of the latter pamphlet shows a bisected apple as a symbol of the free energy field surrounding the earth. While this confirms Ley's account, it does nothing to back up the extravagant claims made for the Vril Society's activities and influence by later writers.'"

Before wrapping up this installment, let us consider another one of the fictitious claims associated with the Thule Society: its ties to the Spear of Longinus.
"The Morning of the Magicians opened the way for hysterical fantasy presented as fact in Trevor Ravenscroft's The Spear of Destiny (1973). The British author claimed that the Spear of Longinus, one of several lances said to have pierced the side of Christ on the cross and preserved as religious relics in various locations, was an instrument of power influencing the course of European history. Hitler, identified once again as a medium for occult forces, was convinced of victory so long as he held possession of the relic. The spear in question had been kept among the Hapsburg crown jewels since the Napoleonic era and was on display in Vienna at the time of Hitler's sojourn. Ravenscroft's thesis rests on one slender reed of truth. The Ariosophists advocated returning the Hapsburg dynasty regalia, including the Spear of Longinus, to its pre-Napoleonic home in the medieval imperial city of Nuremberg, a transfer accomplished by the Nazis after the Anschluss. Ravenscroft may also have been correct in speculating that the Thule Society included a core of dedicated occultists inside a wider outer circle whose interests were political, cultural, or exclusively anti-Semitic.
"In all other respects The Spear of Destiny was pulp fiction in the guise of history read through an extrasensory lens. Borrowing liberally from The Morning of the Magicians along with occult novels such as Edward Bulwer-Lytton's Zanoni and Aleister Crowley's Moonchild, Ravenscroft proposed Hitler as an initiate of the List Society while in Vienna, where he accessed higher consciousness through the psychedelic effects of peyote. The fuhrer was depicted as the reincarnation of Landulf II of Capua, a ninth-century sorcerer. Haushofer stands accused of being the guiding hand of the Thule Society, which Ravenscroft pictured as being absorbed wholesale into the SS during the Third Reich.
"The Spear of Destiny was the bestseller among a gaggle of psuedo-histories of Nazi Germany involving the Thule Society, which followed in the wake of The Morning of the Magicians. In Jean-Michel Angebert's The Occult and the Third Reich (1974), Nazism was interpreted as a Gnostic conspiracy and Eckart anointed as 'high priest' of Thule. Spurious accounts of the Nazi-Thule axis were prominent in Werner Gerson's Le Nazisme, societe secrete (1969), Elisabeth Antebi's Ave Lucifer (1970), J.H. Brennan's Occult Reich (1974), and Jean Claude Frere's Nazisme et societes secrete (1974). The story continues to be retold and developed like an ancient legend that collects new details with every generation. Although major publishers have proven less interested in the 'Occult Reich' since the 1970s, some indefatigable authors have turned to small presses and self-publishing, as well as the Internet. Rock musician and conspiracy theorist George Picard and his collaborator Jerry E. Smith have added their own bloodcurdling elaboration on Ravenscroft with their Secrets of the Holy Lance (2005). Alec Maclellan is only one conspiracy writer who continues to link the Spear of Longinus with Vril, the Thule Society, and the theories of advanced cultures hidden inside a hollow earth in books such as The Hollow Earth Enigma (1999) and The Secret of the Spear (2004). Many of these books professed horror at the dark doings of Nazi occultists while offering titillating glimpses into their secrets. Building on those fantasies, a new generation of neo-Nazis wrote their own approving psuedo-histories of the Thule Society."

Privatization of Water as an Owned Commodity Rather Than a Universal Human Right

There is no greater natural resource on this earth than water. As the sustenance of all life, water keeps every living and breathing organism, every plant, every animal and every human being on this planet alive. In the same way that without air to breathe, without water we humans cannot sustain life for more than a few days.
Due to global warming, widespread drought and increasingly polluted water systems, the projected availability of clean freshwater in years to come to meet the rising demands of a growing global population is among the most daunting human challenges of this century. By 2015 a 17% increase in global water demand is projected just for increasing agriculturally produced food. By the same year 2025, the growing global population will increase water consumption needs by a whopping 40%. While oil played the keenly critical role during the twentieth century, water is being deemed the most valued precious natural resource of the twenty-first century.
As such, several years ago the United Nations declared access to clean drinking water a universal human right. Conversely, willfully denying it is considered a serious human rights violation that denies life itself. And any calculated decision denying people their universal right to life is nothing short of a murderous, shameful crime against humanity.
Despite the human air pollution that has long been dirtying our lungs, while also causing global warming, climate change and increasing catastrophic natural disasters, not to mention the growing global health hazard for us humans, the very thought of making clean air a precious commodity that can opportunistically be packaged and sold by the same corporations that have been ruining our air, that very notion would instantly be criticized, scorned and ridiculed.
Yet that is exactly what has been happening for the last thirty years now all over this planet with the earth’s preciously dwindling freshwater drinking supply. The World Bank has been financing global privatization of the earth’s water supply making clean water that is so necessary for survival an unaffordable private commodity for the poorest people on earth to even access. They are literally dying of thirst and disease because of greedy psychopathic corporate profiteers once again placing theft and greed over human welfare and life itself.
But then that is the globalist agenda – thinning the human herd down from near seven billion currently to as low as just half a billion. That means 13 out of 14 of us alive today according to their diabolical oligarch plan simply must die within the next few years. And what better way to rapidly kill off the human population than taking full ownership and control over the earth’s limited diminishing water supply.
More people on this planet are dying presently from waterborne disease from dirty water than are dying from all wars and violence worldwide combined. Every hour 240 babies die from unsafe water. 1.5 million children under five years of age die every year from cholera and typhoid fever due to unsanitary water conditions. These incredibly sad, alarming facts illustrate just how significant and critical a clean freshwater supply is to staying alive on this planet. Taking control over the earth’s clean water supply is achieved by turning water into a privately owned commodity that only the largest corporations and banks control. Simply making water unaffordable and thereby inaccessible to the poorest people on the planet is one extremely effective, albeit most sinister way to reduce the so called overpopulation problem.
Three primary ways that the human population decreases significantly every year is death caused by starvation and malnutrition (including lack of drinkable water) at between seven to eight millionpeople, diseases that kill between two to three million (with mounting threats of infectious diseases becoming pandemics) and upwards of near a half million dying each year from war.
Behind closed doors oligarchic globalists periodically meet and discuss what is best for humanity and the planet according to them and their megalomaniacal self-interests. For many years now this all important topic of water privatization and control as a convenient and most effective means of addressing the overpopulation problem has been regularly tabled for discussion… along with related topics like geo-engineering, GMO’s, vaccines, overuse of antibiotics, planned wars over oil and water, devising global policies designed to increase political destabilization, poverty and undermine economies, nuclear radiation and a host of other means for culling the human population.

Time Magazine reported how the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been financing research at the University of North Carolina among 78 others to develop ultrasound infertility contraception techniques to sterilize male sperm. At a 2010 TED conference Bill Gates spoke openly of depopulating the total of 6.8 billion people living on earth by up to “10 to 15%” using both of his heavily funded vaccine and contraception programs that will render much of the global population infertile. Meanwhile, billionaire Ted Turner went even further, offering his public opinion to decrease the world population by 70% down to “two billion.” It too is on tape.
Calls to begin sterilizing the human population began surfacing back in the mid-1970’s with Henry Kissinger as former Secretary of State and high ranking Bilderberg member in his declassified National Security Council document (1974) entitled “The Implications of World-wide PopulationGrowth on the Security and External Interests of the United States.” This document emphasized highest priority given to implementing birth control programs targeting thirteen Third World nations mostly in South America. Extraordinary resources were allocated through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) pushing the carrot stick of additional financial aid to countries willing to enact sterilization and depopulation programs.
More overt evidence of the callous contempt that globalist oligarchs have toward us 99%-ers is captured in a statement written by Prince Phillip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband in the forward of his book, “I must confess that I am tempted to ask for reincarnation as a particularly deadly virus” to reduce the human population. It seems readily discernable that an explicit globalist agenda for a New World Order openly propagated with repeated references by President Goerge Bush senior includes depopulation through various means, water control through privatization just one of many in the power elite’s arsenal.
Humans have been dying from lack of clean water for a long time now and will only continue dying at an even greater frequency if the plan to privatize water continues to unfold unchecked and without opposition. Fortunately forces have been mobilizing to combat water privatization. Just last week on the heels of the World Bank annual convening in Washington DC for several days ofconferencing, an international coalition of anti-privatization water rights groups from India and America sent a formal message calling on the World Bank to end its destructive practice of privatizing water around the world under the guise of developmental progress. The Bank’s DC meetings had been touting lies and disinformation in an attempt to paint a glowing report showcasing the so called efficacy and successes that turning water rights over to the private sector have accomplished in recent years. The World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) as the planet’s largest funding source for water privatization provides loans and financing to Third World nations for private water management companies to take charge of municipal, regional and national water rights.
The director of a global advocacy group called Corporate Accountability International, Shayda Naficy, pointed out that 75% of expenses for running a water utility company should go to infrastructure. In nation after nation private companies have placed the priority of making a profit over the need to invest in necessary infrastructure to connect and adequately service water customers. In efforts to maximize cost efficiency as well as profits, water prices invariably go up and fast become out of reach for poorest customers. Cutting off the water supply to thousands of low income families unable to pay for their rising costs has become the all too frequent inevitable result. The World Bank’s 34 percent failure rate for all private water and sewerage contracts between 2000 and 2010 far surpasses its single digit failure rates in the telecommunications, energy and transportation industries.

Critics maintain that the public sector is far more accountable to its public constituents than private sector businesses that only answer to its board of directors to show sufficient profits. Corruption becomes commonplace. Additionally, a conflict of interest exists when the IFC acts as both a money lender and consultant to foreign municipalities in assigning no bid contracts to favored private water utility companies.
To best illustrate typical scenarios where water privatization is either not working or already proved a failure deserve close examination. The good news is that in recent years people in various parts of the world have been mobilizing successful efforts and campaigns to stop water privatization in their own backyards. Presently in a number of regions in India, citizens are banding together to confront and fight the myriad of problems with water privatization in their country.
Recently in Nagpur, central India’s largest city where the country’s first municipal partnership with a private utility company is being played out, major tensions have erupted. Three years ago the city signed a 25-year contract with Veolia Water to supply the city of 2.7 million residents with 24 hour-7-days a week water service. Instead unforeseen delays driving up prices manyfold along with unfair water distribution and frequent service breakdowns have led to widespread angry protests in the streets and charges of corruption. City officials point to a series of serious contract violations. Again cutting corners by refusing to invest in the needed infrastructure appears to be the primary cause for this failed project. The Corporate Accountability International’s 2012 report called “Shutting the Spigot on Private Water: The Case for the World Bank to Divest” cites a number of similar cases where privatization has proven ineffective.
Bold and empowered citizens in Bolivia in the year 2000 made headlines around the globe when they were victorious in kicking out privatized water there in the form of the Bechtel, the fifth largest private corporation on the planet. Impassioned protestors in Bolivia’s third-largest city managed to oppose Bechtel’s increasing prices and demanded that the company abandon its hold on their city’s municipal water supply, eventually driving the powerful scandalous giant out of the country. Though big business efforts to buy and control water rights in many Latin American nations have each had their turn in nations like Equator and Brazil, only Chile water services are privatized. Ultimately local residents virtually everywhere privatization has attempted to take hold has been met with such strong resistance from consumers who realize their private utility company has failed miserably in delivering quality service at affordable prices.
The story is always the same. That is why advocacy groups like Corporate Accountability International is proactively working toward educating governments and citizens worldwide to ensure water remains under the public domain. The exhaustive and expensive legal process of ending long term contracts and successfully removing privatized foreign corporations once established in a city, state or country is formidable. It is obviously in the best interests of people around the world to ensure privatization of their water supply never gets a local foothold in the first place.

Nestlé corporation’s marketing campaign targeted wealthy Pakistanis in Lahore, and its brand of bottled water ‘Pure Life’ became a status symbol for the rich. To bottle its product, Nestlé busily dried up local underground springs that subsequently caused the village poor unable to buy the bottled water stolen from their springs to end up consuming contaminated water. Nestlé went on to extracting water from two deep wells in Bhati Dilwan village, forcing them to turn to bottled water. A similar story emerged from Nigeria where a single bottled water exceeds the average daily income of a Nigerian citizen. Nestlé is notorious for draining local water supplies used to bottle its water brands, then charge unaffordable prices to the local population whose clean water supply was stolen from them.

Corporate Watch released a report exposing some of the unethical and illegal practices that Nestlé has long been committing around the globe, completely disregarding public health concerns while destroying natural environments to ensure huge annual profits of $35 billion just from water bottle sales alone. In Brazil’s Serra da Mantiqueira region where the groundwater is rich in mineral content containing medicinal properties, over-pumping has depleted its valuable water resources and caused permanent damage to the natural environment. and long-term damage.
Nestlé has also allegedly been involved in human trafficking of child slave labor. A BBC investigative report claimed that “hundreds of thousands of children in Mali, Burkina Faso and Togo were being purchased from their destitute parents and shipped to the Ivory Coast to be sold as slaves to cocoa farms.” Yet Nestlé likely bought the cocoa from the Ivory Coast and Ghana knowing it was produced using child slaves.
Finally, Nestlé owns or leases fifty spring sites throughout America. Nestlé controls a third of the domestic market for bottled water in the US. The company is notorious for unlawful extraction of spring water while engaging in price-gouging and reeking havoc in numerous communities. An example of the trouble Nestlé typically causes is Colorado where 80% of the citizens of Aurora were opposed to Nestlé’s presence, fully aware of the company’s terrible reputation for damaging communities and natural environments. Yet the city council voted in favor 7 to 4 to let the devastation begin and over the next decade Nestlé extracted 650 million gallons of precious Arkansas River valley water that went into its Arrowhead Springs brand of bottled water. For years the embattled townspeople of Aurora fought to rid the company predator from destroying their precious aquifers. Additionally, the plastic non-biodegradable bottles are major pollutants that stay toxically intact for a full millennium.
The cumulative grave effects of privatizing water as a global commodity are appalling. The underprivileged residents of Jakarta, Manila and Nairobi pay 5 to 10 times more for water than those living in high-income areas of those same cities. People living in the Third World slums even pay more for water than upscale New Yorkers and Londoners. This kind of unfairness and inequity is obscene. Women in places in Africa where privatized water is beyond their limit walk miles to obtain dirty water from rivers and then too often die along with their children from contamination and disease. Asian farmers are losing their livelihoods if they are unable to receive state funded irrigation. The human suffering caused globally by wealthy private corporations from North America and Europe exploiting people from Third World nations for pure profit is nothing less than pure psychopathic evil.
Taking on global privatization of water for the well being and greater good of the people is but an example of the monumental work that needs to be done. Only if informed, caring and committed human beings collectively come together worldwide to take a global stand against this gravest of life and death issues facing humanity can this oligarch agenda be stopped dead in its tracks. As global human rights activists it is up to us to end the global corporate malevolence and malfeasance from further damaging and afflicting our planet like never before. With the recent formal finding that Americans no longer live in a democracy but an oligarchy, as if we did not already painfully know, it becomes even more “formally” imperative now that we as ordinary citizens of the world take the vested interest in preserving life on our only planet before it becomes too late. It is high time we take back our planet once and for all from the oligarchic corporatocracy bent on insidiously making our earthly home increasingly uninhabitable for all life forms.
Mass extinction of plant and animal species that have thrived on this planet for millions of years is silently, invisibly taking place every single day right before our eyes. At ever-perilous stake now is our own human species as well as all living species inhabiting this earth, suffering at the hands of national governments that have corruptly co-opted with the banking cabal-owned transnational corporations and for too many decades been systematically destroying the richly diverse natural ecosystems of all earthly life forms on an unprecedented scale.
Since governmental co-opting with global fortune 500 corporations has been polluting and poisoning the earth’s skies, its waters, food sources and seeds for so long, global theft and destruction has us humans and all life forms teetering now on the brink of complete self-annihilation and extinction, human-induced for the first time on a massive never before seen scale. It is time to hold the oligarchy in the form of corporations responsible for all the damage they have reeked on this earth. No more grotesque “Abama-nations” of bank and Wall Street bailouts at taxpayer expense. Since the 99% in debt to the hilt have been squeezed dry, while the 1% have made this planet nearly unlivable as the only ones filthily richly profiting from their plundering this earth, the transnationals are the sole entities with the financial capital and means to clean up the very mess they created. It is only fair then that after an entire century of mucking the planet up at our expense, that they now need to finally be held accountable for repairing the destruction they directly caused and obscenely profited from.

Mr. A. sent this article to me, and I have to talk about it, because when I read it, and his accompanying email(which we’ll get to in a moment), a flood of implications came rushing through my mind. The title of the little spam piece was simply something like “longevity whether you want it or not”, and it made me think: why would the idea of longevity as something unsought or unbidden, and as something to be compelled, now be making the rounds? We’ll get back to that in a moment. Here’s the article:

As you can see, the article is from 2010, and raises once again – as Mr. A pointed out in his email to me – what capabilities might actually exist in secret. If one assumes even a decade or two decade lead time, those capabilities may be extraordinary. But he said something else in his email, which gave me pause. As I said, we’ll get back to that in a moment.
But first, a little background. When my co-author Dr Scott D de Hart and I were researching and writing Transhumanism: A Grimoire of Alchemical Agendas, one of the things we talked about was, of course, Percy Shelley’s Frankenstein (For the authorship question of the famous novel, see his Shelley Unbound: Discovering Frankenstein’s True Creator). In the novel, as he pointed out one morning during one of our early morning “reviews” and brainstorming sessions,  the “monster” is the unintended victim of the very technologies and techniques that created him; it was a truly prophetic insight from Shelley, who seemed to have foreseen all the major issues that would emerge in our own transhumanist age. We ran through several “scenarios of longevity.” The usual scenario entertained, of course, is that the longevity-technologies, the so-called GRIN technologies of the transhumanists, would only initially be available to the very rich, to those able to afford “life extension.” (The GRIN technologies, for those new to the subject, are Genetics, Robotics, Information processing, and Nanotechnology.)  The other idea that we kicked around in our brainstorming sessions was the idea that longevity might, in fact, be something that was forced on the population. As I recall, it was Dr. de Hart who made the observation. In the end, we decided not to include extensive speculations of this sort, because we thought the book already wild enough as it was, and that such speculations were down the road a ways.
We were mistaken in that assumption, however, for as I have recently blogged on site, some are already viewing growing possibilities of longevity with some alarm, for the combination of memory-enhancing or downloading and uploading technologies, in combination with life-extension technologies, and – to crawl way out on the end of a Dr Walter Bishop twig of speculation here – the ability to recover the final memories of the dead, would be a horrific punishment. Imagine forcing a murderer to relive his victim’s final moments. And then add to this the life-extension technologies, and one would have the ability to make someone relive a horror, over and over again. It would be the ultimate in “perfect justice,” since the victim’s last memories would be frozen, so to speak, in all eternity, and thus, perfect justice would not only require the forfeiture of the murder’s life, but an actual experience of his victim’s horrors. If such twisted “jurisprudential logic” sounds awful, just remember that the logic is already deeply embedded in western culture in the “sacrificial logic” at the heart of its religious system. But in consideration of the article that Mr. V.T. sent me, and which I saw in my own spam box, the thought occurred: why does there seem to be an effort now, not only to champion and promote 3d printing, science and space careers, space commercialization, and so on, but also a subtle though real uptake in papers promoting the generation of this or that organ, or the successful application of one of the GRIN technologies to this or that problem? Why does longevity also appear to be a theme which is also subtly on the increase as a theme being promoted? (Or am I mistaken in this impression?)
And here is where Mr. A.’s statement in his email hit me: Here’s what he said in conjunction with the idea that such technologies may secretly be decades ahead of what is publicly known: “  I suspect they are    q u i t e   a ways further down the road than the public will ever hear for a long time.  Don’t want these things spent on ‘useless eaters’ – only them as have large bank accounts and have been suitably blessed by mandarins of the ‘breakaways’.” That was, of course, the usual scenario that most people consider with regard to the longevity technologies. But what if Dr. de Hart’s idea was actually the one in play?
I had to think about this one for a moment, and then the thought hit me: our current system of debt and credit is essentially a system that is based on a human life space of approximately 60-70 years(the typical life span of a human when it was set up). All financial systems, at some point, are about monetizing human labor, work, and ndustry (and no, I am not a Marxist!) We have seen, also, the dramatic expansion of credit in the past twenty or so years, with the creation of new types of “securities” – derivatives in all of their…er… derivatives – which greatly exceed the GDP of the world by several multiples(as we saw with yesterday’s blog).  The speculation thus arises: what if these two things, seemingly discrete and unrelated, are in fact related? What is longevity is already being conceived as a means of “paying the interest” on all the massive expansion of credit that we have witnessed in the past 20 years?
If that speculation seems more high octane than usual, it is worth recalling a fact that I mentioned in Fnancial Vipers of Venice, namely, that the sacrificial logic of western culture is also a kind of “primordial debt theory,” a theory that, as I indicated, is being studied by the financial powers of Europe, and studied with approbation. Longevity would be a method, within such a system, of a kind of “financial purgatory,” from which there would be no escape until the high financial-spiritual power had decided that the last minim had been paid.
High octane? To be sure. But it does provide a context from which to speculate why the high financial powers seem to be so concentrated on the Vatican bank recently, for in such a system of monetized longevity, the approbation of a “trusted spiritual authority” might be needed to sell it.
Thank goodness I sold my shares of common stock in Papacy, Inc., long ago.

​The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) has produced a scathing report detailing the Air Force’s mismanagement of its active-duty drone pilots, who are responsible for the most demanding and deadly missions in the entire US military.
US senators asked the GAO to investigate how the Air Force treated its pilots back in 2012, following previous reports of pilot issues, and in view of the massive expansion of America’s secretive drone pilot army. Since President Barack Obama was elected in 2008, the number of drone pilots has tripled, and now stands at over 1,300.
The picture that emerges is of an organization struggling to cope with such growth, and unsure of how to handle its newest division. The Air Force “faces challenges to recruit, develop, and retain pilots and build their morale,” says the 54-page field study.  ( me sick fucks ..who can drone people guilty free )

The report shows that the majority of RPA  [Remotely Piloted Aircraft] operators are siphoned off from the ordinary pilot corps. This is not considered a fast-track career; all ten anonymous focus groups that the GAO interviewed for its study believe it is harder to get promoted as a drone operator.
Many view the job as a demotion.
“One unit commander stated that some in the Air Force view flying RPAs negatively, resulting in a stigma,” says the study, noting that “flying an RPA does not require pilots to operate an aircraft while on board an aircraft in-flight.”
While the US has been training drone-only pilots since 2010, the GAO believes the Air Force “has not tailored its approach to recruiting and retaining RPA pilots nor considered the viability of using alternative personnel such as enlisted personnel or civilians” – those most capable of handling the psychological challenge of tracking targets for hours on a screen and ultimately killing them, rather than aces capable of performing fancy stunts.
“The Air Force has not accurately identified RPA personnel requirements,” the report bluntly states.
Consequently, its recruitment last year fell short by 39 percent – or nearly 80 pilots.
As a result, the rest are working overtime; 57 percent of the pilots said they work more than 50 hours a week.
“The RPA pilot workload is performed by fewer pilots working more hours to accomplish the mission than if the Air Force ensured that its RPA units operated at the required crew ratios. The Air Force has operated at these levels to provide a higher number of CAPs [combat air patrols],” says the report.
The CIA (me nazi fucks)  – which is in charge of the drone program and selects targets for the Air Force – has ordered more than 400 strikes during Obama’s presidency, according to the independent Bureau of Investigative Journalism. This is eight times more than those conducted under George W. Bush. No official figures are released by the CIA itself.

Alarmingly, the “high pace” of live missions means the majority of pilots – most of whom never even planned to fly a drone – receive “limited training,” which “prevents RPA units from excelling at their missions and becoming experts in their field.”
As well as poor training, pilots suffer from exhaustion brought on by complex timetables demanded by drones that need to be flown on missions that sometimes last over 24 hours. The report says that “constantly rotating shifts caused sleep problems for pilots because they must continuously adjust their sleep schedule to accommodate new shifts.”
The report notes the overall burden experienced by pilots who are deployed-on-station but living in a “war rhythm.” It adds that pilots in this situation “must act with urgency to sometimes kill adversaries and take other time-pressured actions to help ensure combatants they support do not lose their lives” and simultaneously “conceal information from friends and family about their work because their missions are often classified.”
Many “noted that they would prefer to deploy-in-theater for 6 months with a clear end point and be separated from their family and friends rather than be deployed-on-station for 3 or more years.”
“The Air Force has not fully analyzed the effects on morale related to being deployed-on-station, and thus it does not know whether it needs to take actions in response,” states the report.
Unsurprisingly, this cluster of interrelated problems means that “RPA pilots in all of our focus groups reported that these challenging conditions negatively affected their morale and caused them stress.”
The GAO then notes that each RPA unit has been assigned a psychologist, though tartly states that the “most-effective means” to reduce stress would be to eliminate the “below the optimum crew ratios” – though this appears to be something of a vicious circle, with under-staffing making the job even less attractive for new recruits.
The across-the-board problems discussed in the report – describing unwilling, poorly trained, and burnt-out staff – makes the claimed efficiency of the US drone program even more remarkable. While the Bureau of Investigative Journalism says that more than 2,600 people have died in drone strikes during Obama’s terms, the White House said last year that annual civilian casualties were “in the single digits.”
The GAO report has made seven recommendations to the Air Force on recruitment, staffing, pilot feedback, and career prospects. The US Air Force has agreed with four of them and “partially concurred” with three others. However, it has not yet mentioned when reforms will be implemented.

US Special Ops forces committing suicide in record numbers

US special forces have been committing suicide at record levels for the last two years, the head of the US Special Operations Command (SOCom) admitted in a speech on Thursday. He blamed the high numbers on the length and difficulty of combat.
"There is a lot of angst. There's a lot of pressure out there. My soldiers have been fighting now for 12, 13 years in hard combat. Hard combat,” Adm. William McRaven, the head of SOCom, said at a conference in Florida. “And anybody that has spent any time in this war has been changed by it. It's that simple."
Since the beginning of the wars in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, military troops – including special forces units like Navy SEALs and Army Rangers – have endured multiple deployments. Military suicides increased across the board during that time, to the point that suicides (349) outpaced combat deaths (311) in 2012, according to a Guardian analysis in 2013.
McRaven did not give the rate of military suicides in his remarks to the GEOINT Symposium, an intelligence convention in Tampa organized by the US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation. SOCom declined a request by the Tampa Bay Times to provide the figures that McRaven alluded to.
In January, McRaven directed the formation of a suicide-prevention working group to address the unique needs of the elite troops that make up SOCom, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
“The welfare of these brave service members and their families is critical to our command’s readiness and our ability to accomplish the mission. It is also a moral imperative,” McRaven said in a congressional testimony in February. SOCom’s head detailed steps that the command is taking to provide psychological help to its special forces, including embedding behavioral health professionals throughout the command’s units.
SOCom wants to eliminate the stigma of seeking help. McRaven reflected on the difficulties that Vietnam veterans faced when they returned home in the 1970s during his Thursday remarks. "We're not going to make that mistake this time around," he said. "We're going to put everything we can into making sure we're taking care of these kids and their families."
"It is about the readiness of my force," he said. "At the end of the day, we'll find the right weapon...But I'll tell you, if we don't have a force that's resilient, that is healthy, that can do the job, none of that equipment is going to matter."
The US government tracks military suicides through the Department of Defense Suicide Event Report (DoDSER). From 2008 to 2010 – the last year data was available for the analysis – military suicides were nearly double the number of suicides for the general US population, with the military averaging 20.49 suicides per 100,000 people, compared to a general rate of 12.07 suicides per 100,000 people.
When including veterans, not just active and reserve-duty troops, the government estimates that 22 veterans died from suicide each day in 2010. In that year, 147,763 suicides were reported. Over 27,000 (18.3 percent) of those suicides were committed by people with a reported history with the military. The veteran status of another 34,000 (23 percent) was unknown.
SOCom is made up of 66,000 troops from all military branches. Special forces are deployed in over 75 countries, according to McRaven’s February testimony.

Snowden Reveals First Ever Public Disclosure Of Secret Black Budget Programs

Did we really need this leak in order to believe that black budget programs operate in secrecy? No, many people will tell you that the existence of black budget programs was obvious and that we didn’t need any official documentation to prove it, but this still helps. The United States has a history of government agencies existing in secret for years. The National Security Agency (NSA) was founded in 1952, its existence was hidden until the mid 1960′s. Even more secretive is the National Reconnaissance Office, which was founded in 1960 but remained completely secret for 30 years.
We are talking about Special Access Programs (SAP). From these we have unacknowledged and waived SAPs. These programs do not exist publicly, but they do indeed exist. They are better known as ‘deep black programs.’ A 1997 US Senate report described them as “so sensitive that they are exempt from standard reporting requirements to the Congress.” (0)(8)
The Washington Post revealed that the “black-budget” documents report  a staggering 52.6 billion dollars that was set aside for operations in the fiscal year 2013. Although it’s great to have this type of documentation in the public domain proving the existence of  these black budget programs, the numbers seem to be off according to some statements made by some very prominent people who have been involved in the defense sector for years. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that these programs are not using billions of dollars, but trillions of dollars that are unaccounted for. Here is a statement given by Canada’s former Minister of National Defence, Paul Hellyer in 2008:
It is ironic that the U.S. would begin a devastating war, allegedly in search of weapons of mass destruction when the most worrisome developments in this field are occurring in your own backyard.  It is ironic that the U.S. should be fighting monstrously expensive wars  allegedly to bring democracy to those countries, when it itself can no longer claim to be called a democracy when trillions, and I mean thousands of billions of dollars have been spent on projects which both congress and the commander in chief no nothing about(2)
We are talking about large amounts of unaccounted-for money going into programs we know nothing about. There have been several congressional inquiries that have noted billions, and even trillions of dollars that have gone missing from the federal reserve system. On July 16, 2001, in front of the house appropriations committee, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld stated:
The financial systems of the department of defence are so snarled up that we can’t account for some $2.6 trillion in transactions that exist, if that’s believable (3)
We don’t really hear about black budget programs, or about people who have actually looked into them.  However, the topic was discussed in 2010 by Washington Post journalists Dana Priest and William Arkin. Their investigation lasted approximately two years and concluded that America’s classified world has:
Become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employes, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work (4)
Another person was aviation journalist Bill Sweetman. Within the Pentagon, he estimated that approximately 150 special access programs existed that weren’t even acknowledged. These programs are not known about by the highest members of government and the highest ranking officials in the military. He determined that most of these programs were dominated by private contractors (Lockheed Martin, Boeing, etc.) and that he had no idea as to how these programs were funded(5)(8).
Dwight Eisenhower, former 5 star U.S. general (highest possible rank) and President of the United States also warned us about  secrecy and the acquisition of unwarranted influence within the “department of defence” with his farewell speech:
In the council of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential disaster of the rise of mis placed power exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes(6)
He warns us about the influence of the military industrial complex, and the influence and power it’s capable of. After Eisenhower the next and only other president that blew the whistle on secrecy beyond the government was president John F. Kennedy in one of his most famous speeches, he is also referring to the military industrial complex:
The very word secrecy is repugnant, in a free and open society. And we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. We are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence. On Infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumour is printed, no secret is revealed (7)
The amount that the US sets aside for sensitive operations each year is not allowed to be published for eyes outside of the intelligence community. We are in an age where the US is having a difficult time keeping sensitive information under wraps, and although there is an abundance of blatant information for the world to wake up to, that which is still kept under tight wraps has also become more transparent. Many phenomena previously labelled as merely a “conspiracy theory” are now surfacing as true and verifiable day after day.
Could some of these black budget programs be dealing with UFOs? There is a large amount of evidence to suggest that they do, and possibly even extraterrestrials. Documents from the NSA prove that UFOs and extraterrestrials are of high interest to the agency(9)(10). In fact I would like to mention that there is an overwhelming amount of evidence to suggest that these black budget programs deal with matters beyond our world. Garry McKinnon has also shed light on this fact, as have thousands of previously classified documents and statements from high level government and military personnel. The world within our own world must be quite fascinating, the fact that we are living in the time of transparency must mean that the truth cannot stay hidden forever.

Richard Dolan’s Thoughts on the “Breakaway Civilization”
By now, the classified world has moved far beyond the reach of the public world, and far beyond in its power and capabilities. Consider the story of a former NSA scientist who spoke with the authors. According to this individual, the NSA was operating computers during the mid-1960s with a processing clock-speed of roughly 650 megahertz(MHZ). To put that in perspective, it took 35 years for personal computers in the consumer market to reach that speed. Indeed, in 1965 there were no personal computers at all. Immediately, the near-fatal Apollo 13 mission in 1971 comes to mind, with its reliance on slide-rulers by mission specialist to guide the damaged NASA spacecraft back to Earth. When presented with this image, the NSA scientist shrugged and stated that secret computational capabilities were too important to share with NASA. So in, in computing, the National Security Agency was an amazing 35 years ahead of the rest of the world. This leads one to wonder what its computational powers are today.
Another example was the U.S. air strike against Libya in 1986. The raid employed f-111 fighter aircraft. Left out of the mission, however, was the F-117A Nighthawk, better known as the stealth fighter. It had been operational since 1983, but was still classified in 1986. In a form of logic both perverse and rational, the F-117A was so radically advanced that keeping it secret was more important than using it for this military mission.
Given the mixture of a treasure chest of government money, and private connections, the likelihood exists that six decades later there is a clandestine group that possesses:
  • Technology that is vastly superior to that of the “mainstream” world.
  • The ability to explore areas of our world and surroundings presently unavailable to the rest of us.
  • Scientific and cosmological understandings that give them greater insights into the nature of our world
  • A significant “built off the grid” infrastructure, partially underground, that affords them a high degree of secrecy and independence of action
This might well qualify them as a separate civilization – one that has broken away from our own, in effect, a breakaway civilization. Still interacting with our own, its members probably move back and forth between the official reality of what we are supposed to believe, and the other reality which encompasses new truths and challenges.
