Obama’s Federal Reserve Pick Reassures Wall Street of Continued Bank Bailouts

hey guys! hows that "bail out"  $$$  you's got ...going ?    ah oh om yea right ...we got fucked !!!    hows it going America  we weweeeeeee wew eweeeee going good huh !!!!!!!!!!

Obama’s Federal Reserve Pick Reassures Wall Street of Continued Bank Bailouts

Region:

yellen
The day after US President Barack Obama publicly signaled his willingness to work with Republicans to slash Social Security and Medicare in response to the current budget stalemate, he appointed Janet Yellen, one of the people most closely associated with the “quantitive easing” program, to head the Federal Reserve.
Yellen’s appointment follows the surprise decision by the Federal Reserve board last month not to begin slowing its $85-billion-per-month quantitative easing program—essentially printing money to turn over to the banks and financial markets.
In a newly-released Wall Street Journal poll of over three dozen economists, sixty percent said that “Fed policy under Ms. Yellen won’t differ much than if had Mr. Bernanke stayed,” while all but one of the rest expect her to pursue even more aggressive money-printing operations.
In his Tuesday press conference, Obama proposed that the Republicans agree to a short-term extension of the debt ceiling, preventing a default on US government debt, while the two parties work out a deal to slash entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
Obama’s proposal was picked up in a Wednesday op-ed by Paul Ryan, the Chairman of the House Budget Committee, who indicated he would support a deal to slash entitlement programs. While Ryan’s op-ed did not include an explicit call for a short-term extension of the debt limit to facilitate these discussions, Washington’s the Hill newspaper reported that the Congressman has been campaigning for a proposal to “lift the debt ceiling and reopen the government long enough for Congress to pass long-term entitlement reforms.”
The Hill wrote that Ryan “presented the idea Wednesday afternoon at a meeting of the conservative Republican Study Committee,” and that his proposals make no mention of delaying or de-funding the Affordable Care Act, the nominal cause of the ongoing government shutdown.
Reporting on the same meeting, the Wall Street Journal wrote, “Mr. Ryan’s proposal for a short-term debt-limit increase drew broad support from conservatives at the Capitol Hill meeting,” potentially opening the way for a deal with the White House. The Journal added, “Republicans leaving the closed-door session expressed support for a short-term measure even if it doesn’t address the 2010 health-care law” known as Obamacare.
In his column for the Journal, Ryan said that Obama will “find that we actually agree on some things. For example, most of us agree that gradual, structural reforms are better than sudden, arbitrary cuts.” He added, “We could provide relief from the discretionary spending levels in the Budget Control Act in exchange for structural reforms to entitlement programs.”
This is a direct overture to Obama, who has used almost this exact language in calls to replace the so-called sequester budget cuts with even more draconian attacks on Social Security and Medicare. As Ryan noted, “The president has embraced these ideas in budget proposals he has submitted to Congress”
Ryan added, “We could ask the better off to pay higher premiums for Medicare… And we could ask federal employees to contribute more to their own retirement.” Both are proposals Obama had earlier agreed to discuss. Ryan also offered to take Obama up on his earlier proposals to combine Medicare’s Part A and Part B, which would make preventative care much less affordable for the elderly.
After Obama and Ryan sketched out the terms of the discussion between the two parties, by Wednesday evening major newspapers were reporting “signs of a thaw” (in the words of the Wall Street Journal) as Obama announced plans to meet with Republican members of Congress at the White House early Thursday.
Obama stressed his absolute commitment to collaborate with congressional Republicans to slash Social Security and Medicare in his Tuesday press conference, saying, “I will sit down and work with anyone of any party, not only to talk about the budget; I’ll talk about ways to improve the health care system … I’ll talk about ways that we can shrink our long-term deficits.” To make it perfectly clear, he added, “If anybody doubts my sincerity about that, I’ve put forward proposals in my budget to reform entitlement programs for the long haul and reform our tax code in a way that would … lower rates for corporations.”
The ongoing budget stalemate and the continued bipartisan attacks on social spending are fueling growing popular opposition to the US political establishment. A survey released Wednesday by the Associated Press-GfK found that only 37 percent of the population approves of Obama’s job performance, while the approval rating of Congress is a minuscule five percent.
The twin announcement of a breakthrough in the budget negotiations and the nomination of Janet Yellen to head the Federal Reserve Board came after sharp warnings from major US banks and creditors, as well as a continued fall in stock values since September.
Both the decision to make no changes to the quantitative easing program and Yellen’s appointment make clear that the US government is committed to putting unlimited social resources at the disposal of Wall Street, even while moving full steam ahead to slash social programs that keep millions of people out of poverty.

Military Waste and Fraud Continue In the Middle of the Government Shutdown

More than 50% of US Government Spending Goes to the Military

Military Waste and Fraud Are the Main  Cause of Our Problems

Regular readers know that the government shutdown is caused by bad policies supported by bothparties, including out-of-control military boondoggles.
We wouldn’t be in this crisis of hitting the debt ceiling in the first place if we hadn’t spent so much money on unnecessary wars … which are horrible for the economy.
But it goes far beyond actual fighting.  We could easily slash the military and security budget without reducing our national security.
For example, homeland security agencies wasted money on seminars like “Did Jesus Die for Klingons Too?” and training for a “zombie apocalypse” instead of actually focusing on anti-terror efforts.
Republican Senator Tom Coburn notes that the Department of Defense can reduce $67.9 billion over 10 years by eliminating the non-defense programs that have found their way into the budget for the Department of Defense.
BusinessWeek and Bloomberg point out that we could slash military spending without harming our national security. Specifically, we could slash boondoggles that even the generals don’t want:
A devastating series by our colleagues at Bloomberg News shows that “the defense budget contains hundreds of billions of dollars for new generations of aircraft carriers and stealth fighters, tanks that even the Army says it doesn’t need and combat vehicles too heavy to maneuver in desert sands or cross most bridges in Asia, Africa, or the Middle East.”
BusinessWeek also notes that redundancy wastes a lot of money:
“One need only spend 10 minutes walking around the Pentagon or any major military headquarters to see excess and redundancy,” former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in September at an event organized by the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington. He should know. As defense chief in 2009, he culled 20 weapons systems he thought unnecessary or too expensive, including the F-22 fighter. One place to start thinning the bureaucracy: the staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. That office has more than tripled in manpower, to 4,244 in 2012 from 1,313 in 2010, according to the Pentagon’s annual manpower report. (Fewer bureaucrats means fewer memos and fewer meetings. Win-win-win.)
BusinessWeek provides a list of cost-cutting measures which will not undermine national security. American Conservative does the same.
So why doesn’t Congress trim the fat? Because politicians want to bring home the pork. As BusinessWeek notes:
Why is sensible military budgeting so difficult? Because lawmakers, including small-government Republicans, protect defense business in their home states with the ferocity of Spartans. Even if the Pentagon offered up the cuts we’ve outlined here, Congress would almost certainly reject them. The senators and representatives don’t have the political courage to face voters and tell them that the republic simply does not need the weapon under construction in their hometown.
American Conservative reports:
The cuts to the Pentagon budget will be only 7% or some $40+ billion, not the $500 billion they bandy about! Anyone who confuses the (unlikely) ten year cut with next year’s cut is just promoting lies. A good example is the Wall Street Journal editorial, “The Coming Defense Crackup,” warning that the cuts would create the smallest navy since 1914. It intentionally confuses next year’s cut with the consequences of 10 year cuts. [In reality, the size of the proposed sequestration cuts aren't really that big.]
Ok, but when every smart bomb and missile hits its target, why does one need as many shells as the old battleships where most shots missed? During the Korean war the Air Force tried futilely for months to bomb a bridge over the Yalu River. Today destroying a bridge takes one cruise missile from a hundred miles away. In Washington we find all the big media opposed to cutting defense spending, waste and all, even the Washington Post. Politico, usually a leftist paper, publishes articles also intentionally confusing 10 years of cuts with a one year cut. Today’s congressmen can’t oblige future congresses on what they will spend; defense apologists use the 10-year number to try to stop the sequestration for one year, 2013. All the big Washington newspapers are full of costly ads from defense contractors.
Of course, this just scratches the surface.
In reality, the military wastes and “loses” (cough) trillions of dollars.  See thisthisthisthisthisthis, thisthisthisthisthis and this.
The former Secretary of Defense acknowledged in May 2012 that the DOD “is the only major federal agency that cannot pass an audit today.”  The Pentagon will not be ready for an audit for another five years, according to Panetta.

Billions In Wasted Defense Spending Are Continuing During Government Shutdown

If you assume that the waste in defense spending has stopped during the government shutdown, you’d be wrong.
Top military and constitutional law expert Jonathan Turley noted yesterday:
We recently saw how [American politicians and military personnel] prefer to deliver bags of money to Karzaibuy Russian aircraft that Afghans can’t fly or maintain, or build huge buildings to be then torn down unused. Of course, no one is ever fired for constructing massive buildings that no one wants only to tear them down. After all, these are contracts going to powerful companies with friends in the government. Now, we buying huge planes at $50 million a pop only to roll them directly from the factories into mothballs because no one wants them. To make this even more incomprehensible, we are not even making the cargo planes. Like the Russian helicopters that the Afghans cannot fly, we are buying the cargo planes from Italy . . . and we are continuing to order more as we struggle to find places to dump them.
The dozen Italian-built C-27J Spartans have been shipped to an Air Force facility in Arizona dubbed “the boneyard.” We are ordering five more, which are expected to be immediately sent with the others into mothballs. The Air Force has spent $567 million on 21 of the planes which will join some 4,400 other aircraft and 13 aerospace vehicles at the boneyard — more than $35 billion of unused airplanes.
Why order planes to be immediately mothballed? Ohio’s senators, Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican Rob Portman wanted them to give a mission for Mansfield Air National Guard Base and to save 800 jobs. So we will spend $567 million to save 800 jobs. Wouldn’t it have been easier to give half a million to each of their constituents and save the rest of the money?
Of course, with citizens rising up against the latest effort of the Administration and Congress to intervene in another war, we could have a pile up of unused weapons . . . until we find a use for them.
(Even in the middle of the government shutdown, the CIA is ramping up covert training program for Syrian rebels.)
Ralph Nader points out this week:
Now seems like an ideal time to turn the attention to the $716 billion elephant in the room. If we are going to shutdown non-essentials in our country, let us start by shutting down the waste and fraud in our military budget.
And former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds wrote yesterday:
To give you an idea I am going to provide a few examples:
Afghanistan gets around $7 Billion= $7,000,000,000. Now, don’t mistake this for our money spent on our war in Afghanistan. That’s in the trillions of dollars. That’s a separate deal. No, this money goes to Afghanistan’s government – known for being crooks, criminals, heroin dealers, and terrorist breeders. ***
Of course Israel gets quite a lion’s share. That goes without saying. They get nearly $3 billion=$3,000,000,000, in military aid and another large sum as financial aid for …well, let’s put aside all the diplomacy and political correctness and call a duck a duck: They get all the military and foreign aid so that they can turn around and spend those dollars through their powerful network and lobby here, to make sure we are all screwed up in developing and implementing our foreign policy…. They get all those billions of dollars in foreign and military aid, come over here, get us into wars so that we go spend trillions of additional dollars in wars ….
Egypt gets its $1 billion of our tax money for … for what? Thank God it’s been in the news lately so even the mass ignoramus population in our nation is able to have an idea: guns and bullets to kill political dissenters, tanks and tear gas to be used against civilians, helicopters to fire at civilians below … bring about a coup de tat, and then bring about another one …Okay, so that one we get. We know what they use our money and military equipment for. No brainer. ***
Pakistan gets more or less $1 Billion. They get military aid to make sure they create desirable conditions so that our military can send its drones out there and bomb the hell out of them every day.
***
So, yes. Our government, somehow, amazingly, has plenty of money, thanks to its limitless money printing authority with zero oversight or accountability. They have trillions to spend on target practice, killing, butchering, torturing, kidnapping. They have billions and billions to spend on spying on you and just messing around with you and me for the heck of it-too much printed money gives them that luxury, you know. And of course, as we see, they’ve got billions of dollars to give crooks, criminals, tyrants, despots, heroin dealers and producers, terrorists, terrorist supporters …
The next time around when our government tells you we are miserably broke, believe them. It’s a no brainer: we are a broke nation. However, don’t let them give you bullsh.. about where they’re going to cut and snip to make ends meet. Do not let them tell you we must go on this way, and just keep printing the green in order to survive. Give them the amount in trillions spent on wars and target practice-shooting around the world.
Point to the billions of dollars yearly given to despots, torturers, criminals, and human target practice fields. Show them the hundreds of millions of dollars wasted by unaccountable agencies every single month. Just question, demand, and insist. Show that you matter and count. For once!

Power Mad Obama Offers Two Choices: Unconditional Surrender Or Default

hey America! ..hows the path you's kooky dummycocks & republipubes  are leading U.S. down ..going gooddddddddddddddddd  huh !

Power Mad Obama Offers Two Choices: Unconditional Surrender Or Default

Obama SleepingBarack Obama is warning that if he does not get everything that he wants that he will force the U.S. government into a devastating debt default which will cripple the entire global economy.  In essence, Obama has become so power mad that he is actually willing to take the entire planet hostage in order to achieve his goals.  A lot of people are blaming the government shutdown on the Republicans, but they have already voted to fund the entire government except for Obamacare.  The U.S. Constitution requires that all spending bills originate in the House of Representatives, and the House did their duty by passing a spending bill.  If the Senate or the President do not like the bill that the House has passed, then negotiations need to take place.  That is how our system works.  And the weak-kneed Republicans have already indicated that they are willing to give up virtually all of their prior demands.  In fact, if Obama offered all of them 20 dollar gift certificates to Denny's to end this crisis they would probably jump at that deal.  But that is not good enough for Obama.  He has made it clear that he will settle for nothing less than the complete and unconditional surrender of the Republican Party.
Why is Obama doing this?  Why is Obama willing to bring the country to the brink of financial disaster?
It isn't hard to figure out.  Just check out what one senior Obama administration official said last week...
"We are winning.... It doesn't really matter to us" how long the shutdown lasts "because what matters is the end result," a senior Obama Administration official told the Wall Street Journal last week.
This is all about a political victory and crushing the Republicans.  Obama doesn't really care how long this crisis lasts because he believes that he is getting the end result that he wants.
According to Obama, the Republican Party is just supposed to roll over and give him the exact spending bill that he wants and also give him another trillion dollar increase in the debt limit.
If the Republicans do not give him that, he is willing to plunge us into financial oblivion.
The funny thing is that most Americans do not want the debt limit increased.  According to one new poll, 58 percent of all Americans do not even want the debt ceiling to be increased by a single penny.
And recent polls show that Americans are against Obamacare by an average margin of about 10 percent.
But the pathetic Republican Party is actually willing to hand Obama a trillion dollar debt ceiling increase and fully fund Obamacare if Obama will at least give them something.
Unfortunately, Obama won't even give them the time of day.
So don't blame the Republicans for what is happening.  The Republicans have already compromised themselves to the point of utter disgrace.  If Obama had been willing to even compromise a couple of inches this entire crisis would already be over.
And nobody should be claiming that the Republicans won't vote to end this shutdown.  They have already voted to end it.  The following is from a recent article by Thomas Sowell...
There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going -- except for ObamaCare.
This is not a matter of opinion. You can check the Congressional Record.
As for the House of Representatives' right to grant or withhold money, that is not a matter of opinion either. You can check the Constitution of the United States. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which means that Congressmen there have a right to decide whether or not they want to spend money on a particular government activity.
Whether ObamaCare is good, bad or indifferent is a matter of opinion. But it is a matter of fact that members of the House of Representatives have a right to make spending decisions based on their opinion.
Once again, the Republicans have already indicated that they are willing to fund Obamacare.  They just want Obama to throw them a bone.
And Obama will not do it.
So either the Republicans are going to cave in completely (a very real possibility) or we are going to pass the "debt ceiling deadline".
What happens then?
Well, we would have more of a "real government shutdown" than the fake shutdown that we are having right now.
Once the federal government cannot borrow any more money, it will only be able to spend what it actually has on hand.  That means that a lot more government functions will have to shut down.
Money will still be coming in to the government, but it won't be enough to fund everything.  According to the Wall Street Journal, the federal government will still have enough money to pay interest on the debt, make Social Security payments, make Medicare payments, make Medicaid payments, provide food stamp benefits and pay the military if they cut almost everything else out.
The other day, I suggested that the federal government could potentially start defaulting on interest payments on the debt as early as November.  But that would only happen if the federal government manages their money foolishly.
If the federal government managed their money smartly and saved cash for the interest payments as they came due, they would not have to miss any.
But when was the last time the federal government ever did anything "smartly"?
For the sake of argument, however, let's assume that the federal government can manage money wisely and can save up enough cash ahead of time for large interest payments as they come due.
If that could somehow be managed, then according to Paul Mampilly the government would never need to actually default...
The U.S. Treasury always has money coming into its accounts. So its always got some amount of cash that it can use to pay interest on bonds. That's especially true right now because the government is partially shutdown and there's no cash going out from its accounts.
In fact, when you look at it the U.S. Treasury should simply have no trouble making interest payments on bonds that it has issued.
And there's no restriction on the U.S. Treasury prioritizing interest payments. Why?
The obligation to pay interest is set by the 1917 Second Liberty Bond Act and laws that commanded the Treasury to pay interest on the debt. You can look this up in section 3123 of Title 31 of the U.S. Code and section 4 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution and in Supreme Court precedent (Perry v. United States). It's all there in black and white.
So the only possible way the U.S. defaults on its debt is if Barack Obama, President of the United States, instructs his Treasury secretary Jack Lew to default on the debt.
And according to the Washington Post, Moody's has just issued a memo that also indicates that the federal government should be able to make all interest payments even if the debt limit is not increased...
In a memo being circulated on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Moody’s Investors Service offers "answers to frequently asked questions" about the government shutdown, now in its second week, and the federal debt limit. President Obama has said that, unless Congress acts to raise the $16.7 trillion limit by next Thursday, the nation will be at risk of default.
Not so, Moody’s says in the memo dated Oct. 7.
"We believe the government would continue to pay interest and principal on its debt even in the event that the debt limit is not raised, leaving its creditworthiness intact," the memo says. "The debt limit restricts government expenditures to the amount of its incoming revenues; it does not prohibit the government from servicing its debt. There is no direct connection between the debt limit (actually the exhaustion of the Treasury’s extraordinary measures to raise funds) and a default."
Of course the federal government would have to stop throwing money around like a drunk gambler at a casino in Las Vegas in order for this to work.
On the very first day of the government shutdown, the feds gave $445 million to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.  Apparently Elmo is considered to be "essential personnel" by the Obama administration.
And according to CNS News, the U.S. Army has committed more than $47,000 to buy a mechanical bull during this "shutdown"...
The government shutdown may be keeping furloughed federal workers at home, but on Monday the U.S. Army contracted to buy a mechanical bull.
The $47,174 contract was awarded on Oct. 7 to Mechanical Bull Sales Inc. of State College, Penn.
So needless to say, there is some serious doubt about whether the federal government would be able to manage their money effectively in the event that the debt ceiling deadline passes.
And if the U.S. did start defaulting on debt payments, it would be absolutely disastrous for the global economy as I discussed in a previous article...
"A U.S. debt default would cause stocks to crash, would cause bonds to crash, would cause interest rates to soar wildly out of control, would cause a massive credit crunch, and would cause a derivatives panic that would be absolutely unprecedented.  And that would just be for starters."
Other nations that we depend upon to lend us money would stop lending to us and would start dumping U.S. debt instead.
Could you imagine what would happen if China started dumping a large portion of the 1.3 trillion dollars in U.S. debt that they are holding?
It would be a total nightmare.  The collapse of Lehman Brothers would pale in comparison.
And already some banks are stuffing their ATM machines with extra cash just in case the general public starts to panic.
But none of this has to happen.
If Obama decides to negotiate with the Republicans, this crisis will likely end very rapidly.
If not, and we pass the "debt ceiling deadline", the federal government will still have enough money to make interest payments on the debt as long as they manage their money correctly.
Unfortunately, Obama seems far more interested in playing political games than he is in solving our problems.
In fact, Park Service rangers have been ordered to "make life as difficult for people as we can" during this government shutdown.  Obama has apparently decided to punish the American people in order to get leverage on the Republicans.  Just check out the following example from a new Weekly Standard article...
There’s a cute little historic site just outside of the capital in McLean, Virginia, called the Claude Moore Colonial Farm. They do historical reenactments, and once upon a time the National Park Service helped run the place. But in 1980, the NPS cut the farm out of its budget. A group of private citizens set up an endowment to take care of the farm’s expenses. Ever since, the site has operated independently through a combination of private donations and volunteer workers.
The Park Service told Claude Moore Colonial Farm to shut down.
The farm’s administrators appealed this directive—they explained that the Park Service doesn’t actually do anything for the historic site. The folks at the NPS were unmoved. And so, last week, the National Park Service found the scratch to send officers to the park to forcibly remove both volunteer workers and visitors.
Think about that for a minute. The Park Service, which is supposed to serve the public by administering parks, is now in the business of forcing parks they don’t administer to close. As Homer Simpson famously asked, did we lose a war?
The hypocrisy that Obama has demonstrated during this "government shutdown" has been astounding.
He has barricaded open air war memorials to keep military veterans from visiting them, but he temporarily reopened the National Mall so that a huge pro-immigration rally that would benefit him politically could be held.
He has continued to fund al-Qaeda rebels in Syria that are trying to overthrow the Syrian government, but he has been withholding death benefits from families of fallen U.S. soldiers.
The conduct of the Obama administration during this shutdown has been so egregious that is hard to put into words.  Obama has chosen to purposely harm the American people in order to score political points.
But this is how our politicians view us these days.  As Monty Pelerin recently explained, most of our politicians have absolutely no problem with exploiting us for their own purposes...
The concept of political service has been replaced by that of masked exploitation. The public is no longer viewed as clients or constituents to be served. Instead they have become political prey. Politicians see the public as a collection of wallets and votes, fair game to be hunted as the means to expand power and wealth. Constituents are now the Soylent Green of the political food chain.
The political class assumes the public exists to serve them, not the other way around. Public participation beyond the lightening of wallets or the provision of votes is unwelcome. It is considered “interference” that must be deterred by the ruling class.
The political class is now a huge, voracious parasite. Like the plant in the Little Shop of Horrors, its needs have grown to the point where it threatens anything productive. Its needs now exceed the willingness for continued sacrifice on the part of the productive. The parasite threatens the very existence of the host.
The political Ponzi scheme of tax, borrow and spend has reached its limit. Either it will die when citizens turn on it or it will kill the productive, ensuring its own destruction.
It perishes in the end. Whether it takes civilization with it is the bigger question.
Is there anyone out there that still does not believe that our system is broken?
Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and power mad Obama will decide to toss the Republicans a few crumbs and this crisis will be resolved.
Because if this crisis is not resolved soon, it could have consequences that are far beyond what any of us could possibly imagine.

Has ANYONE Actually Been Able To Successfully Sign Up For Obamacare Yet?

Obamacare Website DownDo you know anyone that has been able to get past all of the glitches and sign up for health insurance using one of the Obamacare websites?  Thousands of applications have been “started”, but the mainstream media has been desperately searching for someone that has actually been able to successfully get enrolled and so far they haven’t been able to find a single example.  The Obama administration had been promoting the story of one 21-year-old student from Georgia, but it turns out that his “success story” was a fraud and he was not actually successful in signing up for health insurance yet.  So exactly what in the world is going on here?  Certainly a few of the millions of visitors to these websites must have successfully signed up for health insurance, right?  In the end, whether a handful of Americans have been able to sign up for health insurance or not is not the real issue.  The real issue is that the launch of the most highly touted health law in U.S. history has been an epic fail.
The Obama administration has been so desperate to show that the Obamacare health insurance exchanges are working that even Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of Health and Human Services, tweeted the news story about the 21-year-old student down in Georgia getting enrolled in Obamacare.  Unfortunately for the Obama administration, the story was not actually true
The 21-year-old student from Georgia was cited in multiple articles as being one of the few, the proud, the successful to signed up for insurance through a federal exchange.
On his Facebook page, Chad Henderson bragged about being interviewed by “The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Chattanooga Times Free Press, The Huffington Post, Enroll America, and Politico,” along with several local TV affiliates.
His story supposedly was  proof that for all their glitches and problems – and the ambivalence of young people – the new health insurance exchanges were working after all.
Except it seems like it was all a lie.
So how many Americans have actually enrolled in Obamacare at this point?
The Obama administration claims that they do not have the numbers.
According to CNN, approximately 52,000 health insurance applications had been “started” as of Friday…
As of Friday, around 52,000 insurance applications have been started online on the sites of the 24 states that are operating their own exchanges, based on CNN’s own survey.
And according to the Wall Street Journal, large health insurance companies say that only “hundreds” of Americans have enrolled so far…
So far, Web-traffic problems are allowing only a small trickle of buyers, said John Gorman, chief executive of Gorman Health Group, an insurance-industry consulting firm with clients selling policies on the exchanges.
Large insurers have seen enrollment figures totaling in the hundreds each, said Sumit Nijhawan, chief executive of Infogix Inc., a data-integrity firm that works with such insurers as WellPoint Inc., Aetna Inc. and Cigna Corp.
Incredibly, only about 1 out of every 100 applications being submitted on the Obamacare health exchanges contain enough information to get an applicant successfully enrolled in a health insurance plan…
It’s a batting average that won’t land the federal marketplace for Obamacare into the Healthcare Hall of Fame.
As few as 1 in 100 applications on the federal exchange contains enough information to enroll the applicant in a plan, several insurance industry sources told CNBC on Friday. Some of the problems involve how the exchange’s software collects and verifies an applicant’s data.
“It is extraordinary that these systems weren’t ready,” said Sumit Nijhawan, CEO of Infogix, which handles data integrity issues for major insurers including WellPoint and Cigna, as well as multiple Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates.
Talk about a colossal disaster.

So why is this happening?
Why can’t more people get enrolled?
Well, the number one reason people can’t get signed up are the monumental technical failures.  For example, just check out what happened when a reporter from Georgia spent all day trying to sign up for Obamacare
Jaye Watson of 11Alive News in Atlanta spent an entire workday trying to sign up online for Obamacare, and she, like millions of others around the country, encountered error messages, hold-ups and delays in the online marketplace.
While she waited, she called the 800 number for Obamacare and was asked to participate in a survey about her customer service experience. After being put on hold for several minutes without speaking to anyone, the automated survey kicked in and asked her how she would rate the time it took to reach a customer service representative.
“Well, I haven’t gotten through to one,” Watson said.
“Thank you again for calling the health insurance marketplace. Goodbye,” the machine said.
Watson laughed derisively.
Another news organization has been detailing the nightmare that one person in Pennsylvania has been enduring in her attempt to get signed up for Obamacare.  The following is what happened when she contacted “Live Chat” in order to get some answers to her questions…
[4:09:56 pm]: Thanks for contacting Health Insurance Marketplace Live Chat. Please wait while we connect you to someone who can help.

She received no response to her last question.
This kind of thing is not just happening to one person.  All over the country, millions of Americans are experiencing these kinds of extremely frustrating technical glitches.
In a previous article, I included some quotes from ordinary Americans that were posted on the official Obamacare Facebook page about the technical glitches that are happening…
-“Good grief. Day three of trying and still can’t get on this website. The government KNEW about this thing going live for two years. TWO YEARS! And this is the best they could do? I shudder to think what’s going to happen once they are in control of my healthcare. They can’t even get their website functioning properly. If my business had rolled out a piece of crap that worked like this I’d be out of business.”
-“How is it that Facebook, which is a non-essential social networking web site, can reliably handle BILLIONS of electronic interactions per second, but the Healthcare.gov site, which is literally the very heart of the Obamacare program wasn’t ready for the obvious millions of visitors that you had to know it would be receiving?”
-“i’m just going to stop even bothering for a couple weeks or so… once the fervor dies down, hopefully i’ll be able to actually create an account!”
-“And yet another day and several tries I once again keep getting nothing but a completely blank page after I log in. The top tab says ‘Successful URL’. Oh how ironic.”
-“Didn’t these Feds ever have mothers that told them not to lie? Maybe they were raised in the wild. This system is trash. I can’t verify my identity or upload documents. Also what’s with Experian verifying ID’s? Don’t care for that at all.”
-“the website can’t verify my identity…the people at the experian verification number can’t verify my identity either….i tried to upload a scan of my driver’s license, and that won’t work either……very annoying process…….i’ve wasted 3 days on this junk.”
Will the Obama administration ever get this fixed?
That is a very good question.
Meanwhile, many Americans that are already covered by health insurance are finding out that their rates are going through the roof thanks to Obamacare.  The following example comes from a recent Mercury News article
“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family’s pocket each year, that’s otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.”
Have you heard from your health insurance company lately?
If not, you probably will be soon, and it will probably not be good news.
So what do you think of Obamacare so far?  Please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment below…

RED ALERT THE PLAN FOR THE END OF CAPITALISM

Posted by George Freund on October 9, 2013

A number of years ago a President was elected on the promise of CHANGE! People say they prefer a leader who keeps his promises. The man elected, Barack Obama, never said what the CHANGE would be. No one ever really asked him either. They just gave him a blank check and let him loose upon the flock. I can assure you, I, at least after a lifetime of observing frauds realized the CHANGE would not be positive at all. We were being set up for the kill shot. Unfortunately it is the United States and its citizens that are set for destruction.
-
People laughed at those who questioned the background of the man foisted upon us. His I.D. was not sound. He didn't have a valid birth certificate. His social security number belonged to someone else. All those are trivial details that garnered the scorn and even laughter of the enlightened seeking CHANGE. It is no joke. In a matter of days a very successful strategy on how to defeat capitalism and of course the United States and many of her allies will be played. You probably never studied this strategy in school. You were just taught to go with the flow for your share of the American dream rapidly turning into a nightmare. It's never too late for a remedial education.
-

-
I try not to laugh in return at all the enlightened ones. Like a boomerang this CHANGE will spring back upon us. It could be like slapstick comedy if it wasn't for real. Our dear President studied and associated with all the best radicals. Mass mind control techniques must be quite powerful because our man is friends with a terrorist. He still is. In my youth Al Qaeda was still on the drawing board. The group of repute was called the WEATHERMEN. They bombed buildings even federal ones. Like all false flag specialists employed by the state, their charges were dropped. It is funny really. The man fighting terror associates with terror.
-

-
Of course our man is Bill Ayers on the left. Of course it is fitting the above photograph was taken at Columbia University because that is where the strategy to destroy capitalism and the United States was developed. Two sociologists, Andrew Cloward and Francis Fox Piven devised it. It is called the Cloward-Piven strategy. It is very simple really. You burden the system by overloading the government bureaucracy with impossible demands. That pushes the nation into economic collapse. You might think of the debt crisis and Obamacare as two prongs in the plot. Very soon maybe even October 17th the strategy will take hold and America will fall into CHAOS and be DESTROYED. And Ayers planted bombs. What a fool. Economic warfare is far more effective.

We are on the verge of a great plan. Frequently drills are used to conceal the movements of hostile forces foreign and domestic. 9/11 was probably the most recent application. The world does indeed move at the speed of the predator not the prey. The predator could care less if you understand or suffer as a result of his or her actions. Their point is the success of the strategy. In this regard we are extremely far behind. We react to circumstances. The circumstances have been determined in advance. They are a net to capture the prey as they stumble into it.

-
-
If we followed the concept of the drill in the manner required to destroy the American economy, it might start like this. On October 16-17 the day of the default of the American government the Cyber Attack against Payment Processes Exercise begins. It will continue the following week on October 23-24. It is brilliant really. If a default stops the government from paying its bills, a payment crisis will magnify the effect exponentially. Because it involves a cyber attack, the President can use his authority under the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act (PCNAA). He would wisely kill the internet to protect the banking system. This would neuter alternative media. You would have to live with the prepared statements of BIG BROTHER.
-
-
In a good fight they come at you from many directions. It is no different with a societal collapse. There is firm opinion a variation of the STUXNET virus will be loosed on the system as well. Obi-Wan Kenobi will have no choice. In the ensuing confusion, of course, the banks can be looted. A foreign enemy can be blamed, a war can be started, and popular opinion will demand action. As the weeks drive on the 'enemy' will blindside us again in November while GRIDEXII is in play. The bankrupted starving minions will be begging for help in the dark. It will be like the stone age. Fortunately we have a plan for that too. It's not like we haven't hired brutally sadistic law enforcement officers over the past years who get a real HARD ON beating the helpless to death, we did. We prepostioned foreign troops on our shores to really get the brain splatter flowing. We got guys who can play jump rope with your intestines while they rape your women and children.

-
-
Of course with no power the nightmare scenario can be carried out. The east coast could be subjected to a Fukushima event. Without cooling an event on the east coast of America in a place inside FEMA Region 3 could pollute the Atlantic Ocean so all the fish on Earth glow in the dark. Vermont Yankee is one of 14 nuclear plants scheduled for closing. It is in FEMA Region 3.
-
-
CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN. Don't forget to surrender your arms. We don't want to have to hurt you before we genocide you. It's not your fault. The race goes to the swift. You were just too slow. It is the law of natural selection. The strong survive. The weak perish.

Leaked Documents: NSA Actively Infiltrating Online Privacy Apps

Daniel G. J.

Updated 10/09/2013
The National Security Agency has an active campaign to penetrate and destroy popular online privacy tools. A number of leaked documents reveal that average citizens can block NSA surveillance with a popular application called TOR, or the Onion Browser.
nsa-online-privacyTOR is a free application that bounces communications through a distributed network of relays around the world, which makes it hard to track individuals. TOR lets people get around internet censorship tools and remain anonymous. The latest revelations from Edward Snowden indicate that the NSA hates TOR.
In presentations such as “TOR Stinks”, NSA analysts are trying to find methods to track and identify TOR users. The NSA hates the idea of average citizens having access to software that can block its tracking efforts.
NSA Working to Undermine State Department Efforts to Spread Democracy
The most interesting thing about TOR is that it was developed by the U.S. State and Defense Departments. The idea was to create secure communications networks that dissidents and activists could use to communicate without worrying about secret police snooping.
The Guardian reported that around 60% of TOR’s funding comes from Uncle Sam. That’s right, the federal government is spending U.S. taxpayers’ money trying to crack a security program it created. Worse, that money is being used to help techniques that could help despotic governments identify their enemies.
The good news is that the NSA hasn’t been able to crack TOR yet. It can still block most of the agency’s snooping. That means citizens can still use it to evade the NSA and its foreign counterparts. Unfortunately, the NSA and the British GCHQ are working on such methods as redirecting TOR traffic to its servers.
Not only does the campaign against TOR threaten efforts to spread democracy, but it also definitely violates the U.S. Constitution. Cracking TOR violates the Fourth Amendment, which guarantees privacy in communications to citizens and could undermine the First Amendment because TOR is widely used by journalists.
It looks like the NSA is a threat to the very ideas of liberty and privacy. It is time Americans asked the important question: Do we really need an agency like the NSA or not?

Knock, Knock: Will You Open Your Door When Obamacare Agents Show Up?

truther October 10, 2013

Mac Slavo
In addition to the negative impact Obamacare will deliver to our national economy and personal financial well being, one terrifying yet little discussed set of provisions within the Affordable Care Act authorizes agents of the government health care apparatus to visit your home, enter it without probable cause, and seize your children should they deem your household to be operating counter to the wishes of the state.
Knock, Knock Will You Open Your Door When Obamacare Agents Show Up
You’re probably thinking that there is no way this can happen. The government would never override parental rights and take control of their children. But this is exactly what is already happening, even before Obamacare has been full implemented, as evidenced by a recent court ruling giving the State control over the medical treatment of an Amish child whose parents refused Chemo therapy.
There is already precedent and when Obamacare is metastasized into the very fiber of America the government will essentially have total control over not just our medical future, but every aspect of our lives:
Citing the Heath and Human Services website, a report posted Wednesday at the Freedom Outpost says that under Obamacare, government agents can engage in “home health visits” for those in certain “high-risk” categories.
Those categories include:
• Families where mom is not yet 21;
• Families where someone is a tobacco user;
• Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities, and
• Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States.
According to HHS, the visits fall under what is called the “Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program” allegedly designed to “help parents and children,” and could impact millions of Americans
Constitutional attorney and author Kent Masterson Brown said that despite what HHS says, the program is not “voluntary.”
The Examiner
Will you open the door when Health and Human Services comes knocking?
If not, be ready for them to kick it down.
But then again, this could never happen in America, right?

ISAAC ASIMOV’S FOUNDATION SCIENCE FICTION TRILOGY COMES TO LIFE

The basic premise of alchemy is the transformation of human consciousness, and the resulting alchemical transformation of society and culture. There is a kind of magic, and alchemy, at work in all social engineering schemes, and I have also blogged about the possibility that the NSA’s vast electronic spying enterprise is really about two things: (1) the ultimate insider trading mechanism, and (2) the gathering of data to use for sophisticated “gaming” scenarios, a kind of “update” to the celebrated Inslaw PROMIS software scandals of the 1980s, a predecessor to the RIOT and “World Sentient Program” some believe to be the computer “brains” behind contemporary scenario gaming.
During the 1960s, however, all of this was foreseen by that science fiction genius Isaac Asimov, in his now famous Foundation trilogy. In that series, two private “foundations” are established by a mathematician – Harry Seldon is the character’s name – in a decaying galactic empire. These foundations use Seldon’s mathematical modeling of human social interaction of map out prior history and future scenarios.
In short, Asimov was proposing via his fiction that mathematical models, which had served physics in the real life twentieth century so well, would eventually be applied to that discipline considered to be the quintessential “soft” discipline: historiography, the “science” of history writing and the study of the premises that historians adopt and use to write and evaluate history itself. Asimov was not, of course, writing in a vacuum, being a trained scientist himself, and already in his day physicists, trained in quantum mechanics, were taking the first steps toward applying their techniques to economics, and eventually, “econophysics” was born, and is now a discipline in its own right that one can study in some universities. But by applying it to history, Asimov was taking the bold step of saying that, eventually, there would be a kind of “historiophysics,” i.e., history that uses mathematical techniques and modeling to study the past.
Well, it seems that the fictional creation of Asimov’s trilogy, Harry Seldon, and his “foundations” might be coming to life:
3,000 Years of Human History, Described in One Set of Mathematical Equations
Turchin began thinking about applying math to history in general about 15 years ago. “I always enjoyed history, but I realized then that it was the last major discipline which was not mathematized,” he explains. “But mathematical approaches—modeling, statistics, etc.—are an inherent part of any real science.”
In bringing these sorts of tools into the arena of world history and developing a mathematical model, his team was inspired by a theory called cultural multilevel selection, which predicts that competition between different groups is the main driver of the evolution of large-scale, complex societies. To build that into the model, they divided all of Africa and Eurasia into gridded squares which were each categorized by a few environmental variables (the type of habitat, elevation, and whether it had agriculture in 1500 B.C.E.). They then “seeded” military technology in squares adjacent to the grasslands of central Asia, because the domestication of horses—the dominant military technology of the age—likely arose there initially.
Over time, the model allowed for domesticated horses to spread between adjacent squares. It also simulated conflict between various entities, allowing squares to take over nearby squares, determining victory based on the area each entity controlled, and thus growing the sizes of empires. After plugging in these variables, they let the model simulate 3,000 years of human history, then compared its results to actual data, gleaned from a variety of historical atlases.
Although it’s not perfect, the accuracy of their model—predicting the development and spread of empires in nearly all the right places—surprised even the researchers. “To tell the truth, the success of this enterprise exceeded my wildest expectations,” Turchin says. “Who would have thought that a simple model could explain 65% of variance in a large historical database?”
To be sure, history, just like physics, will never be entirely reducible to mathematics – we can thank Kurt Goedel for pointing that out (and for the armchair physicist, consider Goedel’s theorem as a theorem of applied physics) – but Turchin is correct: history remains the one human academic discipline that has avoided the extensive mathematization that has occurred in other disciplines, from biology to sociology. And if this article is any indicator, the success of his first steps in that direction can mean that it will only be a matter of time before courses in higher mathematical languages will be as much a staple of the history degree as it is now of physics or economics.
And to his credit, Turchin recognizes the Goedelian dilemma here, for regardless of all contervailing notions, humans, and human actions, are not reducible to a formal language, a formal mechanism, of mere numbers:
“Of course, there are limitations to viewing history through math—humans are more complicated than numbers. ‘Differences in culture, environmental factors and thousands of other variables not included in the model all have effect,” Turchin says. “A simple general model should not be able to capture actual history in all its glorious complexity.’”
And that, too, is a very mathematical idea, so ably pointed out by another mathematician, in a brilliant, and brilliantly paradoxical treatise that, through the use of a formal calculus, pointed out that no formal calculus could capture all the relevant conceptions of any system. Asimov, and Goedel, had they been alive to read this article, would be smiling.
See you on the flip side.

Oops: Azerbaijan released election results before voting had even started

Source: WashPost
Azerbaijan’s big presidential election, held on Wednesday, was anticipated to be neither free nor fair. President Ilham Aliyev, who took over from his father 10 years ago, has stepped up intimidation of activists and journalists. Rights groups are complaining about free speech restrictions and one-sided state media coverage. The BBC’s headline for its story on the election reads “The Pre-Determined President.” So expectations were pretty low.
Even still, one expects a certain ritual in these sorts of authoritarian elections, a fealty to at least the appearance of democracy, if not democracy itself. So it was a bit awkward when Azerbaijan’s election authorities released vote results – a full day before voting had even started.
The vote counts – spoiler alert: Aliyev was shown as winning by a landslide – were pushed out on an official smartphone app run by the Central Election Commission. It showed Aliyev as “winning” with 72.76 percent of the vote. That’s on track with his official vote counts in previous elections: he won (“won”?) 76.84 percent of the vote in 2003 and 87 percent in 2008.

In second place was opposition candidate Jamil Hasanli with 7.4 percent of the vote. Hasanli had recently appealed to the Central Election Commission for paid airtime on state TV, arguing that Aliyev gets heavy airtime and the opposition does not. He was denied.
The data were quickly recalled. The official story is that the app’s developer had mistakenly sent out the 2008 election results as part of a test. But that’s a bit flimsy, given that the released totals show the candidates from this week, not from 2008.
You might call this a sort of Kinsley gaffe on a national scale. (A Kinsley gaffe, named for journalist Michael Kinsley, is when a politician gets in trouble for saying something that’s widely known as true but that he isn’t supposed to say.) There’s supposed to be a certain ritual to an election like Azerbaijan’s: demonstrations are put down, reporters are harassed, opposition candidates are whittled down, supporters are ushered to the polls and then Aliyev’s sweeping victory is announced. They got the order wrong here.
As of this writing, Azerbaijan’s election authorities say they’ve counted 80 percent of the ballots, with Aliyev winning just under 85 percent of the vote so far. He’s been officially reelected.
