Directors Stole $1.25 Million From Their Own Welfare ProgramThree Men Charged With Embezzling $1.25M from Philly Welfare Program

Kristin Tate

Three men allegedly embezzled $1.25 million from a welfare program called National Comprehensive Center for Fathers (NCCF) in Philadelphia. The men ran the program.
The program was intended to improve the lives of fathers for their children. The program does this by helping fathers find jobs.
As reported by The Blaze:
The three men who headed the program allegedly skimmed state and federal grant money to fund their “lavish lifestyles,” authorities claim.
“Lavish trips to Africa, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City, limousine rides, jewelry, dry cleaning, flowers, political contributions, down payments on townhouses, and buying cars for yourself should never be paid for by taxpayers’ dollars,” said Pennsylvania attorney general Kathleen Kane Wednesday.
Ironically, one of the charged men was the former DIRECTOR of the city’s Department of Public Welfare: 45-year-old Bryon Noon.
Good grief.
The other two are Lawrence Yancey, 61, and Anthony McNeil, 62.
What a shame this incident is. At least they were caught, and can now be punished for their crimes.
Funny though, how the “mainstream” media barely reported on this incident today. God forbid they present welfare programs in any sort of negative light…

Even The Associated Press Doesn’t Believe Obama’s Lies Anymore

One of the most powerful propaganda vehicles for the Left has been the rise of so-called Fact Checkers. With few exceptions, these fact checkers are Progressive ideologues who position themselves as a voice of objective authority, and then proceed to explain away Democrat factual misstatements while quibbling endlessly with Republican opinions. Given this history, you know things are going really badly for Barack Obama if an Associated Press (AP) fact-checker savages the two key statements Obama made in his speech on Tuesday night in which he insisted that Americans need to attack Syria immediately after a long and thoughtful Congressional debate.
Calvin Woodward is brutal in his assessment of Obama’s speech, noting that two of Obama’s pivotal factual statements are either un-provable or untrue. Obama’s first problem comes with his statement that “the facts cannot be denied” that Assad launched the gas attack against Syrian citizens. Woodward points out that the problem with this statement is that Obama’s authority is satellite imagery no one has seen and transcripts no one has read. Obama also cited a casualty number triple that of other sources. Even Obama – the Harvard trained lawyer — should realize that his say-so does not constitute “facts.”

Woodward also takes Obama to task for his statement that he possesses absolute authority to launch an attack. According to Woodward, who offers a little history primer, Congress and the President have been in an endless tug-of-war about which branch possesses the power to authorize military strikes.

In the old days, AP would have said that there’s a quibble between the two branches of government, but that there’s no doubt that the executive branch can and has ordered specific military strikes. Nowadays, though, Obama has been so devalued, even the AP refuses to accept his conclusions as true.

Evidence could send Obama to prison – two sources already claim to have "Documents and Proofs"

Another Egyptian came forward claiming she had proof substantial enough for Obama to go to jail, and her credibility is very hard to question. Tahani al-Gebali, Vice President of the Supreme Constitutional Court in Egypt, said the time was nearing when all the conspiracies against Egypt would be exposed—conspiracies explaining why the Obama administration is so vehemently supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood, she said yesterday on Bitna al-Kibir, a live TV show.

This information was reported by Raymond Ibrahim via Jihad Watch – a translator form Arabic, who was the one to disclose the documents about Libyan intelligence report tying Morsi to Benghazi.
The first accusation toward Obama was voiced less than a week ago, when the son of imprisoned Brotherhood leader Khairat al-Shater, Saad al-Shater, has been reported to claim that Obama had dispatched a delegation to Cairo to get his father and other Brotherhood leaders from prison, as the President was threatened that sensitive documents would be disclosed implicating him and the United States in significant crimes.
The nature of those crimes is not specified nor is the evidence. Also it is not clear yet, as to whether the claim was valid.
According to the dcclothesline.com site, it might have everything to do with the tie between Obama, Mohamed Morsi and what happened in Benghazi.
Also, in her talk, Al-Gebali mentioned "documents and proofs" obtained by Egypt's intelligence services, saying it was high time to take the truth out in the open. During the discussion about the documents listing massive financial transactions between the Muslim Brotherhood and international organizations, she pointed out that "Obama’s brother is one of the architects of investment for the international organization of the Muslim Brotherhood."
Though she did not specify which brother exactly she meant, earlier reports on frontpagemag.com contained information about President Obama’s brother Kenyan half-brother, Malik Obama running an African nonprofit organization which had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Sudanese terrorist Omar al-Bashir.
Chances are very high that Malik Obama might end up to be a part of the Muslim Brotherhood, since he has already a lot to explain about his actions and liaisons.
Walid Shoebat, a former Palestinian Liberation Organization operative, reported in May he discovered that Malik Obama was the executive secretary of the Islamic Da'wa Organization, or ID. It was a group created by the Sudanese government, while Sudan is on the US' list of terrorist states. In 2010, Malik Obama attended an IDO-held conference in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, which main goal was to seek out ways of spreading Wahhabist Islam in Africa. The conference was run by President of Sudan Omar Al-Bashir, who is an international criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court. With the above-mentioned evidence Shoebat concludes that Malik Obama is "in bed with terrorists, working in a terrorist state as an official of an organization created by terrorists."
The son of Egypt's jailed Muslim Brotherhood leader claims to have evidence that could "land Barack Obama in prison", the WorldNetDaily (WND) website reports.
In what may become Obama’s worst nightmare, the man accused him of paying a secret bribe of $8 million to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Saad al-Shater, the son of imprisoned Brotherhood leader Khairat al-Shater, told Turkey’s Anatolia news agency that Obama had sent a senior delegation to Cairo to get his father and other Brotherhood leaders out of prison in order to prevent the release of explosive documents that could incriminate both Obama and the United States.
Arabic-speaking former PLO member Walid Shoebat has translated the report by the Turkish news gency Anatolia as follows:
"In an interview with the Anatolia News Agency, Saad Al-Shater, the son of a Muslim Brotherhood leader, the detained Khairat Al-Shater, said that his father had in his hands evidence that will land the head of United States of America, President Obama, in prison.
Such documents, he says, were placed in the hands of people who were entrusted inside and outside Egypt, and that the release of his father is the only way for them to prevent a great catastrophe.
He stated that a warning was sent threatening to show how the US administration was directly connected.
The evidence was sent through intermediaries which caused them to change their attitude and corrected their position, and that they have taken serious steps to prove good faith.
Saad also said that his father's safety is more important to the Americans than the safety of Mohamed Morsi."
Several independent Arab sources confirmed the report.

Syrian Rebels Slit Throat of Christian Man Who Refused To Convert To Islam, Taunt Fiance, “Jesus Didn’t Come To Save Him”

this IS what your prez. YOU voted into office is supporting  !!!          ALL you's dummycocks  & republipubes  =  the basest form of Human shit.   that's right America  look in the  MIRROR !!!

Syrian Rebels Slit Throat of Christian Man Who Refused To Convert To Islam, Taunt Fiance, “Jesus Didn’t Come To Save Him”

U.S., Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel Support Al Qaeda Terrorists Who Are Brutally Persecuting Syrian Christians

Until recently, Syria was a safe-haven for Christians.
The New York Times notes:
As secular leaders from the secretive Alawite sect, the Assad dynasty largely preserved Christian life, protecting Syria’s minorities from what was perceived as a collective threat from the country’s Sunni majority.
Watching their once-shielding dictators fall like dominos across the region, Christians have suddenly found themselves on the wrong side of history. Faced by a rising tide of radical Sunni Islam, Christians in Iraq and Egypt have fled by the thousands. In Syria, concern over Christian repression has fallen on deaf ears, drowned out by popular support for the country’s opposition in the face of the Assad regime’s brutal crackdown.
BBC points out:
Syria has for much of the century had a sizeable Christian minority, making up at least 10% of the population.
***
In recent years Syria has been considered one of the easier Middle Eastern countries for Christians to live in. Power is concentrated in the hands of the Alawite minority – a Shia sect considered heretical by many Muslims – which has clamped down hard on extreme forms of Islam.
But that’s all changed since Al Qaeda terrorists started targeting Christians in Syria more than a year ago.
Agence France-Presse reports:
Jihadists who overran Syria’s ancient town of Maalula last week disparaged Christians as “Crusaders” and forced at least one person to convert to Islam at gunpoint, say residents who fled the town.
***
“They arrived in our town at dawn… and shouted ‘We are from the Al-Nusra Front and have come to make lives miserable for the Crusaders,” an Islamist term for Christians ….
***
Maalula is one of the most renowned Christian towns in Syria, and many of its inhabitants speak Aramaic, the language of Jesus.
***
“I saw people wearing Al-Nusra headbands who started shooting at crosses,” said Nasrallah, a Christian.
One of them “put a pistol to the head of my neighbour and forced him to convert to Islam by obliging him to repeat ‘there is no God but God’.”
“Afterwards they joked, ‘he’s one of ours now’.”
***
Another resident, Rasha, recounted how the jihadists had seized her fiance Atef, who belonged to the town’s militia, and brutally murdered him.
“I rang his mobile phone and one of them answered,” she said.
“Good morning, Rashrush,” a voice answered, using her nickname. “We are from the Free Syrian Army. Do you know your fiance was a member of the shabiha (pro-regime militia) who was carrying weapons, and we have slit his throat.”
The man told her Atef had been given the option of converting to Islam, but had refused.
“Jesus didn’t come to save him,” he taunted.
Daily Mail writes:
Another Christian resident said: ‘I saw the militants grabbing five villagers and threatening them and saying, “Either you convert to Islam, or you will be beheaded”.’
Another said one church had been torched, and gunmen stormed into two other churches and robbed them.
The Christian Science Monitor notes:
Anas, their son, says he got threatening messages back in Syria: “Your money is for us to take, your wife is for us to sleep with, and your children are for killing. This is all halal,” or permissible under Islamic law. He escaped with his wife and children to Jordan, but not before his liquor store had been burned down.
WND reports:
The Christian residents were offered four choices: 1. renounce the ‘idolatry’ of Christianity and convert to Islam; 2. pay a heavy tribute to the Muslims for the privilege of keeping their heads and their Christian faith (this tribute is known as jizya); 3. be killed; 4. flee for their lives, leaving all their belongings behind.”
The Washington Times reported in June:
A priest and another Christian were beheaded before a cheering crowd by Syrian insurgents who say they aided and abetted the enemy… The reported beheading of the two Christians comes about the same time America has started sending arms to rebel fighters, the Wall Street Journal revealed this week.”
Most of the Syrian “rebels” are Al Qaeda.  As NBC News reports, Al Qaeda is gaining more and more power among the rebels.
And the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel  have been backing these guys for years.  Indeed, we’ve long known that most of the weapons we’re shipping to Syria are ending up in the hands of Al Qaeda. And they apparently have chemical weapons.
Congressman Amish points out that the U.S. is breaking the law by aiding and abetting a designated terrorist group.
Indeed, Obama’s own top lawyers warned him that arming the rebels would be illegal.
Ironically, Obama has just renewed the Declaration of a State of Emergency for America first started by Bush in September 2001.  That declaration of emergency is supposed to be about fighting – you know – Al Qaeda.
But the U.S. has long wanted regime change in Syria … and long backed the most violent terrorists in the world for geopolitical reasons.

Classified U.S. Military Document: Syrian Rebels DO Have Chemical Weapons

Al Qaeda In Syria Had Sarin Before August Attack

We’ve extensively documented that the Syrian rebels do have access to chemical weapons.
It turns out that a classified U.S. military document says the same thing.
A former senior security policy analyst in the office of the secretary of defense, F. Michael Maloof, reports at WND:
In a classified document just obtained by WND, the U.S. military confirms that sarin was confiscated earlier this year from members of the Jabhat al-Nusra Front, the most influential of the rebel Islamists fighting in Syria.
The document says sarin from al-Qaida in Iraq made its way into Turkey and that while some was seized, more could have been used in an attack last March on civilians and Syrian military soldiers in Aleppo.
The document, classified Secret/Noforn – “Not for foreign distribution” – came from the U.S. intelligence community’s National Ground Intelligence Center, or NGIC, and was made available to WND Tuesday.
It revealed that AQI had produced a “bench-scale” form of sarin in Iraq and then transferred it to Turkey.
A U.S. military source said there were a number of interrogations as well as some clan reports as part of what the document said were “50 general indicators to monitor progress and characterize the state of the ANF/AQI-associated Sarin chemical warfare agent developing effort.”
“This (document) depicts our assessment of the status of effort at its peak – primarily research and procurement activities – when disrupted in late May 2013 with the arrest of several key individuals in Iraq and Turkey,” the document said.
“Future reporting of indicators not previously observed would suggest that the effort continues to advance despite the arrests,” the NGIC document said.
The May 2013 seizure occurred when Turkish security forces discovered a two-kilogram cylinder with sarin gas while searching homes of Syrian militants from the al-Qaida-linked Jabhat al-Nusra Front following their initial detention.
The sarin gas was found in the homes of suspected Syrian Islamic radicals detained in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersia.
Some 12 suspected members of the al-Nusra Front were arrested. At the time, they were described by Turkish special anti-terror forces as the “most aggressive and successful arm” of the Syrian rebels.
In the seizure, Turkish anti-terror police also found a cache of weapons, documents and digital data.
***
Sources tell WND the documentation indicates that deadly sarin poison gas was manufactured in a Sunni-controlled region of Iraq and then transported to Turkey for use by the Syrian opposition, whose ranks have swelled with members of al-Qaida and affiliated groups.
High-level former U.S. intelligence officers say that it was the rebels – not the Syrian government – which carried out the chemical weapons attack.
They note that their high-level intelligence colleagues currently working in U.S. intelligence agencies agree.
The director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare from 1988 to 2004 – who was a former senior consultant for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of State – (Yossef Bodansky) also says that the rebels were the perpetrators of the chemical attack.

Obamacare’s Here: Hand Over Your Guns

Thursday, September 12, 2013

Did you know that Obamacare now requires your doctors to ask you about your weapons? Whatever happened to the 2nd Amendment? A well informed American turned the examination around yesterday when his own doctor asked him these questions: “Do you have firearms in your home? Is there domestic violence in your home?” Our informed American responded: “What kind of form is this? Is this a govt form? Is this tied to Obamacare?” The nurse replied that yes, indeed this was a standard govt form and that they are now required to ask these questions of their patients. Welcome to Obama’s ‘New America’.

PA Residents Getting Tickets For Parking in Their Own Driveways Without a Permit…Seriously

PITTSBURGH — CBS reported that people in Pittsburgh are being ticketed for parking in their own driveways under an obscure ordinance that requires them to pay $225 for a permit if they wish to park within 30 feet of a street. [1]
“Evidently here in Pittsburgh, you’re not allowed to use your driveway for parking your car in front of your own house, as do millions of Americans across the nation,” said Jeff Freedman, a resident who was ticketed for parking in his own driveway.[2]
Freedman also said that now his family is unable to find parking at their own home.
John Jennings, the bureau’s acting chief, says this recent ticketing was actually brought on by neighbors who complained.  However, even if the neighbors did complain, that doesn’t give them, the government or anyone else the right to people what they can and cannot do with their own property.
These nosy neighbors are claiming that small driveways on compact city properties are “eyesores” and should be done away with.  Luckily, there has been so much resistance to this outdated law that the local politicians are actually planning to nullify the tickets and take the law off the books
Councilman Corey O’Connor wants to change a law that he says affects thousands.
“If you point to any street in the city of Pittsburgh and Building Inspection is there right now, I’m sure they can cite a number of people for not following this ridiculous parking ordinance that we have,” says O’Connor.
“It’s an out-of-date ordinance and for us to all of a sudden start citing people is just absolutely wrong,” adds O’Connor.

Shocking Evidence Reveals Possible CGI Animation Glitch Durring a 2001, Live News Broadcast

A new slow motion analysis of what was live televised footage the day of the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center (WTC) possibly reveals a rookie CGI animation layering mistake.

You can’t always believe what you see on TV, as up is down and left is right in the realm of mainstream media. It’s a known fact certain globalist interests control the mainline press, it’s not even a well-kept secret anymore. However, it bothers me that the American people can be so easily duped into believing a televised lie.
The following is a rare super slow motion video allegedly shot by an alleged “diamond merchant based out of Los Angeles, California”, according to the narrator.
A still frame analysis of the video shows a building that’s “clearly behind the World Trade Center Tower”.
The funny thing is, you can see how it actually shows on the building as being in front of the windowless grey plane, which is impossible.
Take a look for yourself.

They Denied That We Were In A Depression In 1933 And They Are Doing It Again In 2013

They Denied That We Were In A Depression In 1933 And They Are Doing It Again In 2013

Great Depression HeadlinesThe more things change, the more things stay the same.  The Great Depression actually started in 1929, but as you will see below, as late as 1933 the Associated Press was still pumping out lots of news stories with optimistic economic headlines and many Americans still did not believe that we were actually in a depression.  And of course we are experiencing a very similar thing today.  The United States is in the worst financial shape that it has ever been in, our economic infrastructure is being systematically gutted, and poverty is absolutely exploding.  Since the stock market crash of 2008, the Federal Reserve has been wildly printing money and the federal government has been running trillion dollar deficits in a desperate attempt to stabilize things, but in the process they have made our long-term economic problems far worse.  It would be hard to overstate how dire our situation is, and yet the mainstream media continues to assure us that everything is just fine and that happy days are here again.
As I have already noted, the mainstream media was doing the exact same thing back during the days of the Great Depression.  The following are actual Associated Press headlines from 1933...
"Decisive Break from Panic Shown in Business Figures"
"Markets Spurt To New Highs"
"New Farm Bill to End Depression"
And the following is a headline discovery from 1933 that was made by Linda Goin...
I was browsing through old newspapers the other day and discovered a page filled with news about the stock market and banks in the Daily Capital News from Jefferson City, Missouri. The date was March 15, 1933, well into the Great Depression, and the news was cautiously celebratory as a headline read, “Era of Fear is Declared at End Now.
The Depression-era classic song entitled "Happy Days Are Here Again" was played at the Democratic National Convention in 1932 and it went on to be featured by the Democrats for many years after that.  The following is an excerpt from a Wikipedia article about that song...
Today, the song is probably best remembered as the campaign song for Franklin Delano Roosevelt's successful 1932 presidential campaign. According to TIME magazine, it gained prominence after a spontaneous decision by Roosevelt's advisers to play it at the 1932 Democratic National Convention, and went on to become the Democratic Party's "unofficial theme song for years to come".
There is only one huge problem.
The election of Roosevelt didn't end the depression.  Years of bitter economic suffering and dust bowl conditions were still ahead.  The Great Depression continued all the way up to the start of World War II, and the war years were certainly no picnic for average folks either.
But at least cheery headlines can make people feel better, right?
That is what some believe.
Others believe that giving people false hope is very cruel and that it sets up people for failure.
The following are some actual headlines that were found on mainstream news sites today...
CNBC: "Recession risk gone in all US states but 1: Moody's Analytics"
CNN: "Foreclosure crisis is drawing to a close"
NBC News: "Stocks close near highs; S&P logs 7-day rally"
Wow, those headlines sound great!
So are happy days here again?
Not quite.
In fact, things continue to get even worse in a whole host of ways.  Just consider the following statistics...
-According to a brand new Gallup poll that was just released, 20.0% of all Americans did not have enough money to buy food that they or their families needed at some point over the past year.  That is just under the record of 20.4% that was set back in November 2008.
-Gallup also found that the ability of American families to meet some of their other most basic needs is near an all-time low...
The Basic Access Index, which includes 13 questions about topics including Americans' ability to afford food, housing, and healthcare, was 81.4 in August, on par with the all-time low of 81.2 recorded in October 2011.
-More than 90 million working age Americans are considered to be "not in the labor force".
-The labor force participation rate is the lowest that it has been in 35 years.
-516,000 Americans "left the labor force" last month.  That was a brand new all-time record high.
-The number of private sector jobs dropped by 278,000 last month.
-77 percent of the jobs that have been "created" so far this year have been part-time jobs.
-Approximately one out of every four part-time workers in America is living below the poverty line.
-Right now, 40 percent of all U.S. workers are making less than what a full-time minimum wage worker made back in 1968.
-The U.S. trade deficit with China has hit a brand new record high.
-The U.S. trade deficit with the EU has hit a brand new record high.
-The number of U.S. households on food stamps is at a brand new record high.
-One of the largest furniture manufacturers in America was just forced into bankruptcy...
The maker of furniture brands such as Thomasville, Broyhill, Lane and Drexel Heritage said Monday that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
-Total mortgage activity has dropped to the lowest level that we have seen since October 2008.
Yes, those in the top 1 percent are doing very well for the moment thanks to the reckless money printing that the Federal Reserve has been doing.
But for most Americans, the last several years have been a continual struggle.  The following is a list that comes from one of my previous articles entitled "44 Facts About The Death Of The Middle Class That Every American Should Know"...
1. According to one recent survey, "four out of five U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives".
2. The growth rate of real disposable personal income is the lowest that it has been in decades.
3. Median household income (adjusted for inflation) has fallen by 7.8 percent since the year 2000.
4. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the middle class is taking home a smaller share of the overall income pie than has ever been recorded before.
5. The home ownership rate in the United States is the lowest that it has been in 18 years.
6. It is more expensive to rent a home in America than ever before.  In fact, median asking rent for vacant rental units just hit a brand new all-time record high.
7. According to one recent survey, 76 percent of all Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.
8. The U.S. economy actually lost 240,000 full-time jobs last month, and the number of full-time workers in the United States is now about 6 million below the old record that was set back in 2007.
9. The largest employer in the United States right now is Wal-Mart.  The second largest employer in the United States right now is a temp agency (Kelly Services).
10. One out of every ten jobs in the United States is now filled through a temp agency.
11. According to the Social Security Administration, 40 percent of all workers in the United States make less than $20,000 a year.
12. The ratio of wages and salaries to GDP is near an all-time record low.
13. The U.S. economy continues to trade good paying jobs for low paying jobs.  60 percent of the jobs lost during the last recession were mid-wage jobs, but 58 percent of the jobs created since then have been low wage jobs.
14. Back in 1980, less than 30% of all jobs in the United States were low income jobs.  Today, more than 40% of all jobs in the United States are low income jobs.
15. At this point, one out of every four American workers has a job that pays $10 an hour or less.
16. According to one study, between 1969 and 2009 the median wages earned by American men between the ages of 30 and 50 declined by 27 percent after you account for inflation.
17. In the year 2000, about 17 million Americans were employed in manufacturing.  Today, only about 12 million Americans are employed in manufacturing.
18. The United States has lost more than 56,000 manufacturing facilities since 2001.
19. The average number of hours worked per employed person per year has fallen by about 100 since the year 2000.
20. Back in the year 2000, more than 64 percent of all working age Americans had a job.  Today, only 58.7 percent of all working age Americans have a job.
21. When you total up all working age Americans that do not have a job, it comes to more than 100 million.
22. The average duration of unemployment in the United States is nearly three times as long as it was back in the year 2000.
23. The percentage of Americans that are self-employed has steadily declined over the past decade and is now at an all-time low.
24. Right now there are 20.2 million Americans that spend more than half of their incomes on housing.  That represents a 46 percent increase from 2001.
25. In 1989, the debt to income ratio of the average American family was about 58 percent.  Today it is up to 154 percent.
26. Total U.S. household debt grew from just 1.4 trillion dollars in 1980 to a whopping 13.7 trillion dollars in 2007.  This played a huge role in the financial crisis of 2008, and the problem still has not been solved.
27. The total amount of student loan debt in the United States recently surpassed the one trillion dollar mark.
28. Total home mortgage debt in the United States is now about 5 times larger than it was just 20 years ago.
29. Back in the year 2000, the mortgage delinquency rate was about 2 percent.  Today, it is nearly 10 percent.
30. Consumer debt in the United States has risen by a whopping 1700% since 1971, and 46% of all Americans carry a credit card balance from month to month.
31. In 1999, 64.1 percent of all Americans were covered by employment-based health insurance.  Today, only 55.1 percent are covered by employment-based health insurance.
32. One study discovered that approximately 41 percent of all working age Americans either have medical bill problems or are currently paying off medical debt, and according to a report published in The American Journal of Medicine medical bills are a major factor in more than 60 percent of all personal bankruptcies in the United States.
33. Each year, the average American must work 107 days just to make enough money to pay local, state and federal taxes.
34. Today, approximately 46.2 million Americans are living in poverty.
35. The number of Americans living in poverty has increased by more than 15 million since the year 2000.
36. Families that have a head of household under the age of 30 have a poverty rate of 37 percent.
37. At this point, approximately 25 million American adults are living with their parents.
38. In the year 2000, there were only 17 million Americans on food stamps.  Today, there are more than 47 million Americans on food stamps.
39. Back in the 1970s, about one out of every 50 Americans was on food stamps.  Today, about one out of every 6.5 Americans is on food stamps.
40. Right now, the number of Americans on food stamps exceeds the entire population of the nation of Spain.
41. According to one calculation, the number of Americans on food stamps now exceeds the combined populations of “Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.”
42. At this point, more than a million public school students in the United States are homeless.  This is the first time that has ever happened in our history.  That number has risen by 57 percent since the 2006-2007 school year.
43. According to U.S. Census data, 57 percent of all American children live in a home that is either considered to be "poor" or "low income".
44. In the year 2000, the ratio of social welfare benefits to salaries and wages was approximately 21 percent.  Today, the ratio of social welfare benefits to salaries and wages is approximately 35 percent.
But there is no way that we are actually in another economic depression, right?
If that was the case, the mainstream media certainly would have told us, right?
According to John Williams of Shadow Government Statistics, if the U.S. government actually used honest numbers, they would show that the U.S. economy has actually been contracting continually since 2005.
In other words, if the numbers were not being manipulated they would show that we have had negative GDP growth every single year since 2005.
I don't know about you, but that sure sounds like a depression to me.
What do you think?

Monsanto Pours Out Millions To Stop Wash. State’s GMO Labeling Initiative

Washington state’s GMO labeling initiative is facing increased opposition as groups such as Monsanto begin pouring out millions to defeat it.
Following Monsanto’s $8.1 million contribution to help narrowly defeat California’s Proposition 37, the biotech and pesticide giant has set its sights on Washington’s ballot initiative 522. After several sizeable donations to the 522 opposition group, last week, Monsanto dropped over $4.5 million, making it the biggest single contribution on either side thus far.
Public Disclosure Commission
Other major corporations including Dow, Bayer and Dupont have made large contributions to the No on I-522 campaign as well as the Grocery Manufacturers Association, which represents noted anti-labeling companies such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Kraft and General Mills.
Even with the labeling opposition bringing in over $11 million as of this week, the difference between who is funding each campaign is quite telling. While those against labeling have brought in much more than the Yes on I-522′s $3.1 million, nearly $1 million of which came from Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, small-time contributions from dedicated anti-GMO activists have added up to almost $73,000. Small-time contributions to defeat the labeling initiative? A mere $25.
While the opposition is almost completely made up of major corporations with noted criminal histories such as Bayer, who knowingly sold AIDS-infected medicine in Europe and Asia, Yes on 522′s contributors represent countless groups including Dr. Mercola, PCC Natural Markets, Amy’s Kitchen, Cliff Bar and the Center for Food Safety.
Even with the opposition’s vast cash flow, a recent poll found that 66 percent of Washington voters approve of the labeling initiative. Interestingly, the highest proportion of voters who said they “definitely” would support 522 were those making over $100,000 a year at 54 percent. While the opposition could resort to illegal tricks, similar to what was seen in California when Monsanto-funded anti-labeling groups impersonated government agencies, the chances of voter approval in Washington appear very likely.
With over 80 percent of grocery store food now containing genetically modified ingredients, national polls have found that as many as 93 percent of Americans support federal GMO labeling. The major grassroots uprising seen with the “March Against Monsanto” protests have not only continued the shift against the biotech giant, but have caused major issues with Monsanto’s stock value. Scandals including the recent experimental GMO wheat contamination in Oregon have only accelerated the public’s distrust.
As more independent studies shed light on the dangers of genetically modified crops, Monsanto has pushed back by preparing to re-pass the “Monsanto Protection Act,” legislation that allows genetically modified seeds deemed unsafe by federal courts to be planted anyway.

Reporter talks about what it was like working with Snowden

Washington Post reporter says it's a "core duty" to publish leaker's NSA cache.

The Guardian
One of the journalists entrusted with former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden’s vast trove of documents said in an interview on Wednesday that it’s important to remember what the famed leaker could have done but didn’t.
Barton Gellman, a journalist at the Washington Post, said that Snowden could have taken the route that Chelsea Manning (previously known as Bradley Manning) did, sending the entire cache of documents to an organization like WikiLeaks. But Snowden was far more calculated and more trusting of his confidants.
"[Snowden] gave these documents, ultimately, to only three journalists,” Gellman told Terry Gross on National Public Radio.
Those journalists are Gellman and the duo of Laura Poitras and Glenn Greenwald, both of The Guardian. It seems likely that these journalists have shared at least some material with other newspapers around the world, including Die Süddeutsche Zeitung in Germany and O Globo in Brazil. However, Gellman did not explicitly comment on relationships with those papers.
“What he said he wanted was for us to use our own judgment and to make sure that his bias was kept out of it so that we could make our own judgment about what was newsworthy and important for the public to know,” Gellman added. “And he said we should also consider how to avoid harm.”
Gellman added that while Poitras was first approached by Snowden in late 2012, she initially went to Gellman to see if what Snowden was insinuating could be true. Over time, she began sharing what she and Glenn Greenwald had with Gellman, who noted that the document pertaining to the PRISM program at the NSA was the first one that Snowden shared.
Each time the Post has been about to publish a leak, Gellman said, it has given the American government the opportunity to raise specific objections to what the paper is about to print.
“[We’ve said] if the damage that you’re worried about consists about the companies being less willing to cooperate because the public or their customers don’t like what they’re doing, that’s exactly why we have to publish it,” he said. “That’s the core duty we have.”

A young spy in unknown territory

Gellman said that Snowden—a longtime reader and forum member on Ars who last signed onto Ars on September 1, 2012—wanted the information contained in the documents to be made public above all.
“The world of journalism was foreign to him,” Gellman added. “He had been a spy all of his professional life. He didn’t understand the rules under which we operated. Once he released the documents to us, his greatest fear was that he would be caught and that the documents would not be published, that we would somehow be restrained and he would have taken all these risks for nothing without achieving this public debate. He was impatient for these stories to begin.”
The Post reporter also noted that Snowden ended up in Russia “by accident” and that he likely no longer has access to the data trove. This would theoretically make it impossible to share with Chinese or Russian authorities.
“I believe that he has rendered himself incapable of opening the archive while in Russia. That is to say, it's not only that he doesn't have the key anymore,” Gellman concluded. “It's that there's nothing for the key to open any more. It's that he has rendered the encrypted information literally impossible to open with what he has in his possession. He has told a former Senator in a letter that even under torture he couldn't give the information to the Russians. And that's not a boast about his alleged ability to withstand torture. That is a statement of fact about his capabilities. He simply can't open it. And that means that the Russians can't get it.”

AT&T Threatens Persistent Pirates With Account Termination

Internet providers participating in the six-strikes scheme have made it clear from the start that under the program no subscriber will be permanently disconnected from the Internet. The Copyright Alerts being sent out by AT&T, however, inform accused pirates that in some cases it is company policy to terminate services to repeat infringers. Under what circumstances these disconnections take place remains a mystery for now.
runningAfter years of negotiating and planning the long-awaited U.S. “six-strikes” system finally went live in February.
The Copyright Alert System’s main goal is to educate the public. That is, informing people that their connection is being used to share copyrighted material without permission, and pointing them to legal alternatives.
While repeat infringers face so-called mitigation measures, the copyright holders and ISPs have made it very clear that no one will permanently lose their Internet access. Nevertheless, AT&T is currently using its Copyright Alert emails to warn accused pirates that account termination is an option.
TorrentFreak obtained a copy of AT&T’s Copyright Alert (posted in full below) which warns that those who share copyrighted files may lose their account. Worryingly, this threat comes before the official mitigation measures are mentioned.
“Using your Internet service to infringe copyrights is illegal and a violation of the AT&T Internet Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, which apply to all users of your account, and could result in mitigation measures including limitation of Internet access or even suspension or termination,” AT&T writes.
The sentence above points to a footnote clarifying that a termination is AT&T policy as required by the DMCA.
“Pursuant to Section 512 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, AT&T’s policy is to terminate services to repeat infringers under appropriate circumstances,” the footnote reads.
The key part here is “appropriate circumstances,” which the Internet provider doesn’t elaborate on.
Several years ago AT&T stated that it would only disconnect repeat infringers if the company was ordered to do so by a court, unlike other service providers such as YouTube and many file-hosting services who terminate accounts on their own.
The issue is a gray area, since the termination section of the DMCA is not clear on whether service providers have to terminate accounts themselves, or if a court order is required.
TorrentFreak contacted AT&T to ask which circumstances could expose a subscriber to losing his or her Internet access but we have yet to receive a response.
If it wanted to, AT&T could certainly identify persistent pirates as the six-strikes scheme requires the company to keep a database of infringing accounts. The scheme further requires ISPs to save this information in case the MPAA, RIAA or other copyright holders decide they need to access it.
So, it is not unthinkable that account terminations could follow, although this would require the copyright holders to obtain a court order or subpoena.
While AT&T’s “alert” doesn’t cross any lines, technically speaking, for the general public the mention of possible account terminations can be rather confusing. It would have been more appropriate to explain under what circumstances subscribers may lose Internet access, while making clear that this is unrelated to the alert they received.
A redacted copy of the Copyright Alert being sent out by AT&T is detailed below.

Copyright Infringement Alert
Dear (Primary Account Holder),
We are sending you this alert as part of our participation in the Copyright Alert Program — an industry-wide initiative intended to help users understand their rights and responsibilities in the distribution of copyrighted content online.
Digital content owners routinely monitor file-sharing networks to determine if copyrighted movies and music are being distributed illegally over the Internet. Through the Copyright Alert System, we’ve recently received a notice from a movie studio, record company, television studio or other company that owns copyrighted material that your AT&T Internet account was used in connection with possible infringement of their copyright protected materials.
Your account was identified by its IP address. However, in keeping with the AT&T Privacy Policy, we have not released your name or personal information, and we will not do so except as required by a lawful request for records. But at the request of the content owner, we are sending this alert — which applies to all users of your account — so that the issue may be resolved without further action.
A copy of the original notice can be found at att.com/copyright-infringement, but summary information is available at the end of this email.
What is Copyright Infringement?
Copyright protection gives creators of original intellectual property (such as music, movies, videos, books, artwork, and images) the exclusive right to that work — including control over reproduction, distribution, adaptation, performance, or financial benefit. If you or any other user(s) of your account copy, reproduce, adapt, or distribute copyrighted material without authorization, you are infringing those rights.
Using your Internet service to infringe copyrights is illegal and a violation of the AT&T Internet Terms of Service (TOS) and Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), which apply to all users of your account, and could result in mitigation measures including limitation of Internet access or even suspension or termination.*
How Does this Affect Me?
Through the Copyright Alert Program, users are given an opportunity to understand and change behavior that may be resulting in Copyright Alerts. However, if they receive multiple Copyright Alerts, they may encounter corrective action — or mitigation measures — which may limit or inhibit Internet access.
No action will be taken at this point and we’ll let you know when mitigation measures are pending, should any be necessary. At that point, if you wish, you may request an Independent Review which provides an opportunity to challenge this or any other Copyright Alert before any mitigation measure is implemented. (Be sure to preserve any records or information that could be used to show that the activity was non-infringing.)
Other Helpful Information
It is possible that the infringement notice is the result of activity through a peer-to-peer (P2P) program that may be on your computer. These programs can pose issues, so it is important for you to understand what they are and the risks of using them.
You can find information on P2P programs and how to remove them, through the Center for Copyright Information at www.copyrightinformation.org
There are many ways to legally enjoy protected television programs, movies, and music. You can find information on these methods at www.copyrightinformation.org/a-better-way-to-find-movies-tv-music/
What Do I Need to Do?
• Please visit att.com/copyright-infringement to learn more about copyrights, our policies, and the Copyright Alert System.
• Visit the Center for Copyright Information website at copyrightinformation.org for additional information on the industry-wide Copyright Alert Program, as well as information on Peer-to-Peer programs, and more.
• Check to make sure that the activity of all users of your account is in compliance with copyright laws, the AT&T Internet Terms of Service, and Acceptable Use Policy.
Taking the above action should help you to resolve the issue.
Sincerely,
Your AT&T Internet Service Customer Care Team

Browser Plugin Reports Torrent Links to Anti-Piracy Company

An anti-piracy company says it has developed a new tool to boost their monitoring powers. The plugin, created by London-based MUSO, will harvest torrent and cyberlocker links as users browse the web. The information will then be sent back to the company and pumped into databases for subsequent processing and transformation into DMCA takedown notices. The plugin has already piqued the interest of one file-sharing developer who wonders if the tool might have other uses.
MusoLogoIt’s well known that many anti-piracy companies rely on their own web crawlers and even Google to find infringing links and files. Once detected they go about their business of sending DMCA notices to search engines, torrent and file-hosting sites, blogs and forums, in order to have that content taken down.
In addition to the above techniques, anti-piracy company MUSO report they have developed a new method of gathering information on potentially infringing links and files.
The London-based outfit says that its new web browser plugin will enable any Internet user to report back the location of ‘pirate’ links or torrents whenever they appear in their web browser. The plugin will report how many files/links it has found before submitting them to the MUSO database.
“Cyberlocker, and similar download sites, do not generally allow direct searching so links are found through search engines, forums and blog sites that link back to the cyberlocker,” the company said in a statement. “MUSO’s ‘Anti-Piracy Assist Browser Plugin’ will use people power to help them protect their vast base of rights holders.”
We were interested to hear more details about this new product, such as how it will be able to differentiate ‘pirate’ files from those being distributed legitimately.
MUSOdash
“The links found will feed into the MUSO system which already has robust systems in place for correctly matching only illegal content links to our client’s products,” MUSO Technical Director James Mason told TorrentFreak. “[We employ] a combination of automated matching algorithms, followed by a final human verification stage before any takedowns are issued.”
MUSO hopes that industry workers will install and use the plugin in a show of support for the music business although at this stage it appears that it will be open for anyone to use.
Of course, sending potentially infringing links could have legal implications so we quizzed MUSO on the privacy issues. Can users of the plugin be identified by the reports they send to MUSO and if not, will all users’ submissions be trusted as accurate?
“It’s fully anonymous and users won’t be identified in any way,” Mason told us.
“The links supplied don’t need to be trusted in any way, as it’s merely a way to make the MUSO system aware of a link. You can think of it as an extension to our existing crawler, rather than a user giving MUSO information about specific links belonging to specific products. Once the plugin or our existing crawler finds links, they are entered into our matching and verification process.”
No date has been set for the tool’s release but already it has piqued the interest of a developer in the file-sharing community. He told us that a people-powered link finding plugin with a few modifications might be useful to more people than just an anti-piracy company.
The tool will initially be available for Chrome with IE and Firefox support following “in the near future.”
