This
song goes out to all those who ever lost at love and still carried the
torch many years after ... especially to those who remain tortured by
the dream of what could have been, should have been, but was somehow
mysteriously prevented from happening. The New Colony Six's "Things I'd
Like To Say," in my opinion, was years ahead of most other pop rock
love songs of the late 1960's. The resolute sadness of this melody
prevails, despite the uplifting string variation suggesting there is
still hope for the broken couple, only to return to a somber reality and
the distinctive and haunting piano ending which sets it apart as one of
the best love songs of all time.
