Affordable 3D printing is on the horizon.
You may be able to purchase a high quality 3D printer for around $100 in the near future, thanks to the rampant success of ‘The Peachy Printer’ — an affordable printer model that has come to light following the explosion of printable 3D gun blueprints.
Gun blueprints for the ‘ Liberator’ 3D gun that the federal government attempted to ‘remove’ from the internet as more than 100,000 individuals secured the blueprints to their hard drives. Now, ’The Peachy Printer’ may be in the sights of the federal government after the project received over $230,000 in funding within a few days (far surpassing the goal of $50,000). Because even beyond the creation of 3D weapons, the 3D printers are also backing a number of corporations into a corner.
If the 3D printing technology enters the hands of the consumer, then various everyday items could be created through 3D printing technology. From simple items to more advanced hardware, the technology is advancing to provide consumers affordable ways to print their way to self-sufficiency. While still in the early stages, the creators of The Peachy Printer posted a photo of a solid cube that was created using pennies worth of resin material within the printer:
