New Video Footage Released of Russia’s Tesla Tower

While most Internet searches for “Tesla” bring up Elon Musk and the electric vehicles of Tesla Motors, today it also links to a drone video of the current state of Russia’s mysterious Tesla Tower, the so-called Marx Generator inspired by the Wardenclyffe Tower designed and built in New York by Nikola Tesla. Should we be impressed, doubtful, worried or all of the above?
The “High Voltage Marx and Tesla Generators Research Facility” has been under construction for some time in Istra, 40 kilometers west of Moscow. It’s named not for Karl but for German electrical engineer Erwin Otto Marx, who conceptualized it in 1924. Also called a “lightning machine,” it was said to be built to create artificial lightning for testing lightning protection on aircraft.
Many believe this is just a cover for other purposes such as weather control (think HAARP), electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weaponry or power generation. That was the idea of the Wardenclyffe Tower, which Tesla said would ultimately transmit free electricity across the Atlantic without wires.

With changes in world energy policies, Russia is looking for something to replace its declining oil revenues. The Marx Generator, if implemented as planned, could be the answer. According to what little has been released about it, this is what they expect from the Marx Generator:

… power equal to all power generation facilities in Russia – including thermoelectric, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar, and wind power stations combined.

Is the Marx Generator close to completion? It’s hard to tell from this video. Previous videos and photographs have shown it to be generating lightning for microseconds but not much more. Another project to build a replica of the Wardenclyffe Tower using solar panels was announced last year and is currently raising fund via an IndieGogo kickstarter campaign.
Still, the release of the video shows Russia wants to let the world know that it has an interest in the Tesla Tower and the capability to produce and distribute limitless, wireless power. Can they do it? Only time will tell. Will it be for free as Tesla dreamed? What do you think?
